Kenosha showed up AGAIN. 🔥⛵️

On Wednesday, August 12, we wrapped up our second annual Chasing Bubbles Foundation Youth Day in Kenosha, this time with 25 kids joining us at the Kenosha Yacht Club for a full day on and around the water.

Thanks to KYC sailors, volunteers, community sponsors, and the U.S. Coast Guard in Kenosha, the kids spent the morning learning through water-safety games, meeting the Coast Guard, getting introduced to sailing, and then heading out onto Lake Michigan for their first real sail.

And the lake absolutely delivered. Fair winds. Calm seas. Blue skies. The kind of day that makes you fall in love with being on the water before you even realize it’s happening.

Afterward, everyone came back in for lunch, dessert, stories, and a whole lot of excited kids who had just been introduced to a completely new world.

That’s what these days are about. Not just sailing. It’s about showing a kid that there are bigger horizons out there. New places. New skills. New people. New possibilities. Sometimes all it takes is one day on the water to plant that seed.

Huge thank you to KenoshaYachtClub, Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha, the Coast Guard, our captains, crews, volunteers, and every community sponsor who made year two happen.

The connection never seemed complicated to Alex. Show up curious, meet people where they are, make them laugh, and give them your full attention. Kids especially seemed to understand that language immediately. Before long, whatever made their worlds different mattered a whole lot less than the moment they were sharing.

That’s a big part of why the Chasing Bubbles Foundation exists.

We believe kids deserve moments that make their world feel bigger. A boat ride. A new place. A new friend. A story they’ll tell when they get home. Sometimes it only takes one experience outside of what they know to plant the idea that there might be a whole lot more out there waiting for them.

Alex spent his life chasing those moments. Now we get to help create them for the next generation.

Not for waiting until the timing is perfect, the fear is gone, or the calendar finally clears. It is for saying yes, chasing the horizon, laughing too hard, and making memories while we still can.

None of us knows how many days we get so treat today like it matters. Call the person. Take the trip. Try the thing that scares you. Find the adventure hiding in an ordinary day.

Staying positive does not mean pretending the ride is always easy.

It means keeping your head above water when life drags you through the rough parts. It means holding on to your humor, noticing the good that is still there, and refusing to let one difficult stretch define the entire journey.

You may not control the current. You may not know where it is taking you but you still get to decide how you meet it.

Keep your head up. Keep finding reasons to laugh.

For almost every kid aboard, it was their first time venturing out onto Lake Michigan. New waves. New perspectives. New confidence.

Captain Alex believed that the moment you sail beyond the shoreline, your world gets a little bigger. 24 young adventurers proved him right.

A huge thank you to KenoshaYachtClub for hosting the event and the eight volunteer boats who donated their time, their vessels, and their passion. Because of you, a new generation discovered that adventure isn’t something you watch. It’s something you live.

Captain Alex spent his life embracing them.
