πApril 20β23, regional technicians from Caribbean SIDS, joined other representatives from Latin America in Panama City for a critical capacity-building workshop focused on combating desertification, land degradation, and drought (DLDD).
This training, supported by UNCCD, PISLM, UNEP, and the GEF, empowered participants to move beyond using default datasets.
As PISLM Project Manager Tricianna Maharaj noted, this cycle is a βdefining momentβ for using data as a strategic tool for regional investment and planning.
Key Highlights of the workshop last week included:
β¦οΈFocus on high-quality reporting via the PRAIS 4 Platform.
β¦οΈKnowledge exchange on data integration and validation.
β¦οΈA shift toward true national ownership of the reporting process.
We are thankful for the support of our partners-UNEP, FAO, Conservation International, and Apacheta, ensuring that the Caribbean remains at the forefront of sustainable land management.
