🐾 Keeping Busy & Welcoming Fresh Faces at CAH! 🐾
Whew, it has been an absolute whirlwind here at Carriacou Animal Hospital! From sunup to sundown, our team and volunteers are working hard to make sure our island’s dogs and cats get the love and care they deserve.

Here is a little peek into what we’ve been up to lately:

Welcome, Zoe! 🇬🇧✈️ We are absolutely thrilled to welcome our newest WVS (Worldwide Veterinary Service) volunteer, Dr. Zoe! She’s jumped right into the thick of things, and we are so grateful to have her hands on deck.

Kitten Duty 🍼: Dr. Nadine is officially on around-the-clock bottle duty! She’s busy feeding a sweet litter of kittens while their strong momma cat recovers from a severe case of mastitis. Momma is getting the best care and resting up.

The Orthopedic Trio 🦴: We're currently managing three resilient pups, all recovering from broken legs. The good news? They are all expected to make a full recovery!

Outreaches & Surgeries 🩺: Our regular Wednesday and Saturday community outreach days at the tent have been packed, and our surgery calendar is completely full.

On the Road 🚗: On top of everything at the clinic, we are doing our absolute best to squeeze in house visits whenever and wherever we can to reach those who can't get to us.

Every busy day reminds us why we do this, and we couldn't do it without the incredible dedication of our international volunteers and your ongoing support.

Thank you for standing by us, cheering us on, and helping us keep Carriacou’s animals healthy and safe! ❤️ 🗺️

Your donations are always appreciated! https://carriacouanimalhospital.com/donate

🏗️ WE HAVE PLANS! 📜

Big news, CAH family! Yesterday, June 2nd, we officially took a massive step closer to our new home. We now have the completed architectural drawings in our hands! 🎉

The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter every day.
What’s Next?

Step 1: The drawings are heading off to get an engineer's stamp. 📐
Step 2: They go straight to Physical Planning for official approval. 📋
Step 3: BREAK GROUND! 🛠️🐾

We are incredibly excited to start building a new, improved, and hurricane-resilient Carriacou Animal Hospital. This facility will allow us to bring back full-scale veterinary care and comfortable accommodations for our amazing visiting volunteers.

Thank you all for standing by us—we can't wait to get those shovels in the ground! 🏝️❤️🐶🐱

📦✨ THREE BARRELS OF LOVE & SUPPLIES! ✨📦
We are sending out a massive, heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who made our latest shipment of three supply barrels a reality. Running the island's only veterinary clinic for our beloved cats and dogs is a true team effort, and these shipments are quite literally the lifeblood of CAH. Without them, we simply couldn't keep our doors open. 🐾❤️
We have a few very special shout-outs to make:

To Dr. Emma: First and foremost, words cannot express our gratitude for you. From organizing the logistics and storing the influx of donations, to physically packing and shipping these massive barrels—you are an absolute powerhouse. We truly could not do this without you! 👑📦

To the Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS): A huge thank you for the incredible supplies you continue to contribute. We appreciate each and every item, and they will be put to great use helping the animals of Carriacou & PM. 🌍🩺

To Our Amazing Volunteers (Past & Present): Thank you to everyone who took the time to order, gather, and deliver parcels to Dr. Emma to be included in these barrels.
No matter where you are in the world, your continued dedication to CAH keeps our tails wagging! 🐶🐱

It takes a global village to keep our small island clinic running, and we are endlessly grateful for ours.
Thank you all for helping us save lives! 🇬🇩❤️

🐾 What a week it’s been at Carriacou Animal Hospital! 🐾

Our team has been moving at top speed to keep our island’s dogs and cats happy and healthy. Here’s a quick look at what we’ve been up to over the past week:

Extra Surgery Day: To stay ahead of our current spay and neuter load, we added an extra surgery day this week. A massive thank you to our incredible team for working extra hard to make this happen! ✂️❤️

Wednesday Outreach: Our weekly under-the-tent outreach clinic was an absolute whirlwind of wagging tails. It was completely full of the most adorable pups getting their checkups and preventative care. 🎪🐶

Non-Stop House Visits: From one end of the island to the other, our team has been on the road constantly, bringing veterinary care directly to the doorsteps of pets who need it most. 🚗💨

And finally... a very special guest! 🌟
Amidst the busy week, we had the unique opportunity to rescue a tiny, vulnerable baby Manicou (opossum)! This little one is now safe in our care, getting the extra love and attention they need to grow big and strong.

None of this would be possible without the dedication of our amazing volunteers and the ongoing support of our community. Thank you for helping us keep Carriacou’s animals safe! 🙏❤️

🐾 "Just Another Quiet Saturday" (Said No One at CAH Ever!) 😅

Ever wondered what a 24-hour shift looks like for our 100% volunteer team? Buckle up, because yesterday was a total rollercoaster, and this after already seeing 40 plus patients this week!

🌅 8:00 AM: Started with a heartbreaking emergency. A patient we've been trying to save passed away before arrival. A post-mortem revealed a severe heartworm burden, this pup was taken in about 6 months ago as a stray. A vital reminder of why preventative care matters so much here. RIP Toprak 💔

⛺ 10:00 AM – Noon: Off to our community outreach tent! Right as we wrapped up, a pre-lunch stitch-up? IYKYK. 🧵🩺

🍕 1:00 PM: The core team finally sat down for lunch while the visiting volunteers hit the beach. Before we could even finish , the emergency phone rang.

🚗 2:00 PM: Raced from Hermitage to Meldrum for a momma cat and newborns in severe distress. Terrified and in pain from life-threatening mastitis, momma lashed out—leaving our head-vet with a cat bite. 🤕 Our mission doubled: stabilize the feline family AND dash to the pharmacy for human antibiotics! 🍼🐱

🐷 7:00 PM: Just finished feeding the kittens when we received a call about a piglet. We strictly do cats and dogs, but no one from Agriculture was available until Tuesday. How could we say no? Quick pivot to farm-vet mode!

🌙 Midnight: We finally settled at 8:00 PM, but right before midnight, our volunteers witnessed a dog get hit by a speeding car. The team sprung back into action, rushing her back to our temporary clinic to stabilize her through the night. 🚗💥

☀️ The Sunday Morning Reality Check:

We woke up today to a very full house:

1 brave momma cat fighting an infection

3 hungry newborn kittens on supplemental bottle feeds

1 pup recovering from orthopedic injuries

No salaries here—just a lot of pride in being here for Carriacou's animals. Huge love to our visiting volunteers who roll with every single punch!

🐾 Stay Cool & Stay Informed: Updates from CAH ☀️🌡️

Things are moving fast at the clinic! 🏃‍♀️🏥 Our team is working hard to keep up with the daily flow of spay/neuter surgeries ✂️🐕, emergency calls 🚨🆘, and general check-ups 🩺🐱. It’s a busy season, but we wouldn’t have it any other way! ❤️✨

🆕 New Faces on the Way! 🤩👋

We have some exciting news: we’ll be welcoming a few new volunteers to the team this week! ✈️🌍 Keep an eye on our page for introductions—we can’t wait for you to meet the talented folks joining us in our mission to care for the island's animals! 🏝️🐕‍🦺

📍 Outreach Tent Schedule ⛺📍

Need routine care? Come find us at our outreach tent on Airport Road ✈️🛣️. It’s the perfect time for quick check-ups and wellness advice:

🗓️ Wednesdays: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM 🕒

🗓️ Saturdays: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM 🕙

🔥 Heatwave Warning: Protect Your Animals 🥵🐄

With the current high pressure and lack of rain 🚫🌧️, temperatures are climbing to dangerous levels. Whether you have pets at home or livestock in the field, please take extra precautions:

Hydration is Key: Ensure all animals have constant access to fresh, cool water 💧🥣.

Seek Shade: Make sure outdoor animals have a well-ventilated, shaded area to escape the direct sun 🌳⛱️.

Watch for Signs: Keep a close eye on your animals for heavy panting, lethargy, or stumbling 👅⚠️.

Our animals feel the heat just as much as we do—let’s look out for them! 🐾💙
