As the only veterinary service for Carriacou and Petite Martinique, losing our facility to Hurricane Beryl meant pivoting overnight to keep emergency and essential pet care moving—through mobile house calls, temporary setups, and our outreach tents at the new site. 🚐🐾

An update on our new home: We need your support now more than ever! 🐾

Two years ago today, MP Tevin Andrew shared the wonderful news that land had been identified for a new Carriacou Animal Hospital. Since then, the site was agreed on, the lease passed through Cabinet, and our full architectural and engineering drawings were submitted to Physical Planning.

While we are still working through the final stage of government red tape to break ground, our team hasn't paused for a second—we are currently the busiest we have ever been!

Right now, we are treating record numbers of companion animals out of our founder’s home, under pop-up tents, and from the back of our vehicles.

Operating standard veterinary care without a permanent facility is extremely expensive. Until every final approval is signed off, we cannot launch our major capital fundraising drive for the build itself—making managing our daily operating costs critical.

To our incredible visiting volunteers who travel around the world to work in tough conditions, our local team, and our generous donors: we cannot thank you enough. Your grace, patience, and unwavering support keep this charity alive every single day.

A huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to Dr. Olivia, who has been with us at Carriacou Animal Hospital for the past 5 weeks! 🐾

Even as a brand-new graduate, Dr. Olivia stepped up from day one. Her skills, dedication, and eagerness to jump right into clinic life were nothing short of outstanding.

During her time with us, she made so many friends across the island and fully embraced life on Carriacou—even taking the plunge for a scuba dive before heading off! 🤿🌊

We are endlessly grateful for visiting volunteers like Dr. Olivia, who give their time and talent to ensure the cats and dogs of Carriacou receive the care they need.

Dr. Olivia, as you head back to Germany to officially kick off your veterinary career, we wish you all the absolute best. You’re going to do amazing things, and we hope to see you back on the island again soon! 🇩🇪✈️🇬🇩

What an incredible week behind us—and an even bigger one ahead! 🐾❤️

LAST week, our 100% volunteer - visiting team was working non-stop to care for Carriacou’s animals. Check out what we accomplished together:

* 60+ Patients seen and treated
* 10+ Surgeries completed
* 4 Emergencies handled
* 2 Outreach Clinics under the tent on Airport Road
* 2 House Visit Days reaching patients out in the community
* 1 Full (16 hour) Spay/Neuter Day

A massive THANK YOU to our wonderful visiting volunteers hailing all the way from Switzerland, Germany, and Canada! 🇨🇭🇩🇪🇨🇦
We were especially thrilled to welcome two future vets from Canada last week Amelie and Serena, through our partnership with Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS)! 🎓🐾

It wasn't all hard work, though—our team made sure to enjoy island life with plenty of well-deserved beach time, exploring Carriacou, and even swimming with turtles! 🐢🏖️☀️ We are so grateful to the dedicated international vets, nurses, and students who donate their time and skills to our community.

Looking ahead: THIS week is already setting up to be even busier! Our team is already gearing up for another full slate of clinics, visits, and procedures.

🐾 Huge thanks to Jacqui, Bentley, and Aston! 🐾

A massive thank you to Jacqui (and her wonderful dogs, Bentley and Aston!) for the incredibly generous donation of two custom stretchers to Carriacou Animal Hospital.

We’ve only had them for a few days, and they’re already making a world of difference for our team and patients. Transporting sick, injured, or recovering animals safely and comfortably is a huge part of what we do, and these stretchers are getting put to great use straight away!

As a 100% volunteer-run charity, thoughtful and practical donations like this mean everything to us and the animals we care for across the island. Thank you for helping us keep Carriacou’s pets safe and well-supported! ❤️🐶🐱

🚨 URGENT: LOOKING FOR OWNER OR FOREVER HOME! 🚨

This sweet, playful 8-month-old doggo is extraordinarily lucky to be alive! 🐾💔 After hurricane-damaged fencing left local yards exposed, she wandered onto a nearby property looking for food and attention 🏚️🐕. She was caught chasing local ducks and chickens, and in the heat of the moment, she was nearly impaled with a pitchfork 😱 tragic situation avoided only because cooler heads prevailed and she was spared! 🙏❤️

When unsecured dogs wander into farm yards, natural instincts take over—leading to devastating livestock losses for residents and extreme danger for the dogs 🐓🦆⚡. Fixing post-hurricane perimeter fencing and keeping dogs safely contained protects our island's poultry and keeps innocent pups out of life-threatening situations! 🛠️🏡

WE URGENTLY NEED TO FIND HER HOME OR A NEW ADOPTER! 🆘
We ABSOLUTELY cannot keep her more than a day or two, and she desperately needs a safe, secure place to go right away 🏠✨. She was found in Lauriston!

16 HOURS. Endless heart. 🐾❤️

Tuesday was one of those surgical days at Carriacou Animal Hospital that reminds us why we do what we do.

From tending to Ava (recovering from a broken pelvis) to Rex’s tail amputation and neuter, our team barely had a second to breathe.

We saw a marina stray for a spay with severe tick fever and a broken pelvis, handled several routine spays, welcomed local celebrity Bentley (Bentley and Aston Book Series) for a lump removal, took on a major tumor removal with Rambo a huge black lab, and treated a cat with a severe leg wound.

Tragically, the day ended with heartbreak. JJ arrived late in the afternoon with a penetrating gunshot wound to her abdomen. After 3 long hours of emergency surgery, we couldn't save her. Rest in peace, sweet JJ. 🌈💔

Another "quick" house call turned into 13+ patient checks and a late-afternoon emergency orthopedic surgery! 😅🐶🐱

That's life on the island—you never quite know what the day will throw at you, but our dedicated volunteer team is always ready to jump into action.

Today (Tuesday) is completely packed with back-to-back surgeries, so the temporary surgery is buzzing. A huge thank you to everyone who supports us and makes it possible for our small team of volunteers to keep caring for Carriacou's animals! ❤️

🐾 TEAM UPDATE & PARVO ALERT 🐾

We are thrilled to give a huge Carriacou welcome to Vet Techs Celine and Leonie, visiting us all the way from Switzerland for the next few months! 🇨🇭✨ They’ve joined Dr. Olivia from Germany, who has extended her stay and our core volunteer team to help keep our clinic running full steam ahead.

Between our regular surgery days, Saturday and Wednesday community outreach, and urgent emergency calls, the clinic has been non-stop! 🩺💙

⚠️ IMPORTANT PARVOVIRUS REMINDER ⚠️
The Parvovirus outbreak on the island is still in full swing. Parvo is highly contagious and can be fatal, especially for young puppies.
Spotting symptoms? If you suspect your dog or puppies are showing signs (lethargy, vomiting, severe diarrhea), please contact CAH immediately so we can provide support.
How to protect your pets: Vaccination is the ONLY way to prevent Parvovirus. Please ensure your dogs and puppies are up to date on their vaccines!
