Tell our funders why you love Lollipop!

Part of our agreement of being funded by the Lottery Community Fund is to report back to them about our activities and the benefits our members get from coming to Lollipop. We've just finished a funding period that started in 2023 and finished in July this year, and we are required to provide feedback from our members as part of our final report.

We received a lovely message from one of our families this week! Lollipop member Zara raised £310 running the pop-up cafe at Galphay, selling breakfast baps and cake with a cuppa! 🍰 ☕

Zara wore her Malton cookery school apron and delivered food to tables. Many people took leaflets and asked Zara about the different activities we provide. Her two favourites - Castle Howard and the Malton Cookery school with her friend Sophia!

Thank you so much to Zara and her family for running what sounded to be a fun and successful event, we appreciate your support so much!

Allen and Payne Casting are looking to cast a budding Deaf actor (age 9 or over) for an upcoming Family Christmas film. They are particularly looking for the role of Finn - a partially deaf / hard of hearing, speaking role. He is one of the lead characters of the film. Please note this role may require swimming.

Shooting dates are looking to be 5 weeks across January and February 2027, likely to be in the East of England/South East England

Role: FINN
Description: Finn is at the heart of the story. Our Finn is hard of hearing which makes him a patient listener. He stopped bothering talking because no one is listening. Although he's quiet, he has a certainty about who he is, because being a little different puts who you are to the test. He has an appetite for fun and mischief and we’re aiming to have plenty of it in this film. Finn's probably a very good mimic because if life’s a bit challenging you find ways to protect yourself, but Finn won't use them because although he’s fearless, he also has a kind heart.

Today Becky and Cheryl visited Askham Bryan College to celebrate
International Day of Sign Languages and to raise awareness amongst the students about the importance of Deaf culture, accessibility, and sign language!

York’s Aesthetica Film Festival returns 4-8 November, bringing 300 films, games, VR, music, podcasts, comedy, workshops, live events and more to venues across the city.

There are also a number of free events taking place across York, including the Immersive Media Arts Trail, featuring three striking installations in the city centre, and the UNESCO City of Media Arts EXPO at De Grey Rooms on 5-6 November, showcasing the work of 40 creative businesses from across the region.
