On Friday 10 October, Miles from Lived Insights, will be taking part in the Neon Walk for Change with members of this family.

This is a family-friendly charity event raising awareness and funds for young people facing homelessness, organised by local youth homelessness charity SASH.

Miles shares "This event means a lot to me. Anything I can do to raise money for people experiencing homelessness, I will. It's such a difficult time for many, and no one can truly understand unless they've been through it. No one should have to face it alone."

The team is ready to light up the night – Miles, Will, Tom and Jane.

We’ve joined the Digital Friendly York partnership!

Lived Insights is proud to be part of – a city-wide initiative making sure everyone in York can get online, build their digital skills, and access the resources they need.

We believe no one should be left behind in the digital age and that everyone should have the choice to use digital and non-digital options that work for them.

This is about making York a more inclusive place for all.

Our NEW website is LIVE! 💜💬

We’re thrilled to announce that our brand new website is now up and running!

Over the past few months, we’ve been working really hard - alongside some incredible consultants and freelancers - to bring this to life.

Our new site brings together all the work we’ve done over the past few years, and we’re incredibly proud of how it’s all come together.

Yesterday, Miles from Lived Insights 💬 went to London for another DWP Collaboration meeting as part of the 'Right to Try Work' committee.

The meeting covered why the reform is happening, what ideas are being looked at, how to explain the benefits to the public, and how much time people will have to try things without penalty if they don’t work out.

The next meeting will go into more detail, looking at what people might expect and making sure their concerns are heard.

Earlier this week, Astrid joined Cllr Michael Pavlovic and Prof Nicholas Pleace at the launch of York’s Homelessness & Rough Sleeping Strategy 2024–29.

She shared how the work of Lived Insights 💬 had helped shape the strategy, which builds on York’s strengths and uses evidence-based approaches to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring.

It was an inspiring event filled with hope and determination to ensure no one in York is left without a home.

Big day in London for lived experience voices! 🎙

As part of the government’s pledge to listen to people with lived experience, Miles is in London today, meeting with the Department for Work and Pensions - DWP to help shape the future of the benefits system.

Lived Insights has been invited to join the ‘Right to Try Work’ committee - offering frontline insight into proposals and the thinking behind them. These important discussions will continue through to the end of October, and we’ll share updates where we can.

Miles is joined on the train by familiar faces from York: Charlie, Thomas, and Tony, who are heading to Parliament for a homelessness meeting with MPs.

Miles will be talking about the work of Lived Insights – from research and facilitation to community engagement – and reflecting on his experience as a tour guide with Good Organisation Social Ventures

Good Organisation Social Ventures run walking tours in York led by people with lived experience of homelessness.

Miles, who is also one of their tour guides, recently joined them on a research visit to Greenland to explore how a similar project could work there.

Miles says 💬 “It was a fascinating and humbling experience – a real eye-opener to see how another country approaches these issues.

It gave me a deeper understanding of Greenland’s complex housing situation and the challenges involved in uniting diverse communities and how that impacts people’s lives.”
