Yesterday’s Humber Business Week kick‑off absolutely flipped the script. Young people weren’t just in the room; they were leading it.
Amelia and Luke from Healing Academy opened the event by interviewing ABP’s Andrew Dawes, who shared his vision of the Humber as “the economic engine room of the UK.” Their message back to the region was even stronger: give young people real chances, real experience, and we’ll amplify your voice.
Kaz Walker lit up the room with her journey from poverty in South Yorkshire to 86 England caps and captaining the national team, now inspiring young people through Tigers Trust. We also heard from Ian Sharp, proudly championing Scunthorpe; Katy Robinson, a force for women in construction; and Caine Wild, who had everyone laughing as he shared how he returned to the school he was once expelled from, this time to help students thrive.
The Humber’s ambition, creativity, and potential were on full display.
Huge thanks to Team Future Humber for an inspiring start to the week.
