We had such a lovely time at our second Family Crafternoon of the summer holidays today!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and got creative with us! It was wonderful to see families enjoying time together and creating beautiful artwork.

As many of you know, our National Lottery funded community project is coming to an end after an incredible year.

Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of providing weekly creative wellbeing sessions on Thursdays for children, young people and families in York, creating welcoming spaces where friendships have formed, confidence has grown, creativity has flourished and people have found somewhere they truly belong.

Looking back through the photos, it’s amazing to see just how much we’ve packed into one year! We’ve explored painting, sewing, sculpture, nature crafts, baking, blackout poetry and countless other creative activities. Every session has been full of imagination, creativity and laughter.

But more importantly than the artwork have been the people. We’ve watched anxious children grow in confidence, families make new friendships, young people discover talents they never knew they had, and parents tell us how much these sessions have meant to them.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund for believing in our vision and making all of this possible, and to every family who has joined us, trusted us and become part of the Evolving Roots community. You’ve made this project incredibly special.

Although this particular project is coming to an end, Evolving Roots CIC isn’t going anywhere! We’re already exploring new funding opportunities and developing new ideas so we can continue supporting children, young people and families through arts, nature and creative wellbeing.

⭐️ We still have five more Family Crafternoons to enjoy over the summer holidays and we’d absolutely love to welcome some new families along before this project comes to an end. Each session is packed with creative activities suitable for all ages, with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where everyone is welcome.

⭐️ Spaces are limited, so if you’ve been thinking about coming along, now is the perfect time. Just send us a message for more information or to book your place.

We had such a lovely afternoon today at our first Family Crafternoon of the summer holidays. It was great to see children, young people and their grown-ups enjoying some creative time together and producing some amazing artwork!

If you couldn’t make it today, don’t worry! We have Family Crafternoons running every Thursday 1-4pm throughout the summer holidays, so there’s plenty of opportunity to join us.

I’m really pleased to share that I’ve completed my Accredited Nature Connection Qualification Instructor training with The Therapy Adventure!
This means Evolving Roots is taking the next steps towards being able to offer recognised Level 1 and Level 2 Awards in Nature Connection from our own setting.

As well as continuing our creative wellbeing sessions, we’ll be able to support people who want to develop their knowledge and gain an accredited qualification in nature connection.

I’ll share more information once everything is in place, but I’m incredibly excited about what this means for the future of Evolving Roots! 💚

What a brilliant term it’s been!
A huge thank you to all the children, young people and families who have supported our sessions this term. Your enthusiasm, encouragement, and the lovely cards and messages we’ve received this week have truly meant the world to us. ❤️

Over the summer holidays we’ll be running our Teen Meet Ups on most Wednesdays and our Thursday Crafternoons every week, with plenty of opportunities to get creative and catch up with friends.

We hope everyone has a fantastic summer, and we look forward to seeing many of you over the holidays! ☀️🎨💛
