You can help empower Karen children by supporting their health. Water-borne diseases and parasites not only impact the immediate well-being of children but they also missed days of school, lost resources due to medical costs and a negative impact on physical and cognitive development.

By helping KHT provide clean water and de-worming support, you have helped remove the struggle of dirty water and limited the impact of common parasites for children. More time in school, better health to play and less worry for parents means that children are empowered and ready to face the world!

Donate today and help us support hundreds of children to access clean water and de-worming medication.

For Karen communities, the constant struggle to access water and ensure it is safe to drink is a huge point of stress. In addition to water-borne diseases, older Karen people must struggle to reach water sources, carrying water in bottles or bamboo and often miss out on having enough daily water. Our water systems reduce this burden and provide reassurance to Karen elders in this vulnerable time of life.

KHT is grateful for the support of the Rotary Club of Bangkok South for supporting the repairs of the Flood Resistant Irrigation System (FRIS) in Ban Mae Song.

Although our irrigation systems are designed to survive flooding, there are times when extreme weather can lead to debris and trees in the water, which can cause damage. We provided support to repair the system that provides food security for over 300 people and has been operating well since 2018.

Our FRIS is a proven way to improve the quality of life for Karen communities, protect the environment and provide a foundation of empowerment that lasts generations. You can help us reach more communities by donating today!

In Ban Mae Surin, the community with working with KHT staff to complete a much needed Flood Resistant Irrigation System. The villagers collaborate with our team from the beginning to clear the site, gather gravel and stones, build the framework and lay the concrete. The FRIS will belong to the village and they will reap the benefits through increased incomes, crop outputs and less damage to the local environment.

Ensuring Karen people are consulted and there is community buy-in is essential for the success of our projects and for the longevity of KHT. We need the community to trust us, and for them to use their labour and local expertise to ensure our projects are implemented in the best way.

KHT distributed treated mosquito nets to over 288 households across 12 isolated and deprived villages located close to the Thai-Myanmar border. Although malaria is now less of a risk across Thailand, it remains endemic in these areas. Rainy season brings new danger as mosquitoes have the right environment to thrive. Living so far from hospitals and in rural, poverty stricken areas also means people are more vulnerable to long term health issues, further impoverishment and even death.

The distribution of nets is an important step in allowing families to protect themselves. These nets were provided to us by the Rotary Club of Bangkok South and the support of other donors allowed us to deliver them safely.

KHT provided 38 households in the isolated village of Ban Oo Nu. The villagers now have access to vital supplies that are hard to access in an emergency, such as rubbing alcohol, rehydration sachets, gauze, plasters, fever aides, allergy medicines and painkillers.

In Ban Mae Oompai Nua, families have been able to grow enough to eatand have enough water to drink thanks to your kindness! KHT's projects have been benefitting the community for over 20 years, and Mr and Mrs Dandatphreeksa were keen to tell us how our work has helped ease their lives over the years and ensured their village doesn't suffer due to poor water sources or flooding.

Did you know that petrol prices have increased by around 20% since last year? The last 8 weeks have seen the steepest increase as well as many places have fuel shortages.

KHT's work is reliant on trucks that can deliver materials to remote locations, as well as our school buses that help safely transport children to school. As the petrol prices continue to be more than usual, this has an impact on the cost of our work.

In addition to this, PVC pipe prices are also being impacted, and these are a vital part of our water and irrigation systems.

Although we are in uncertain times, KHT is still committed to our projects. We need your help and we hope you will donate and ensure we can continue our work in the most effective way!
