Today we have joined together with other Romany Gypsy, Roma and Traveller charities and activists in signing an open letter responding to Kemi Badenoch’s comments linking our communities with criminality. This is concerning, especially as the statement was made during Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month.

Our letter calls for the remarks to be clarified and withdrawn, for cross-party condemnation of rhetoric that attributes criminality to entire communities, and for public discourse about our communities to be grounded in evidence, dignity and individual responsibility.

Did you know that the proportion of carers from Gypsy and Traveller communities providing more than 50 hours of unpaid care per week has been found to be twice that of the general population? Yet Gypsy and Traveller carers often find it hard to access support services.
You are always welcome to drop in to our Public Living Room for a cuppa and a chat. We may be able to offer you support, or connect you to other services that can help you.
