Green Hammerton Village Hall

Sadly in spite of there being 2 gates into the children’s playground, teenagers have been seen climbing over the fence to gain access. You can see the results on the photos. We will be taping it up later today as a temporary measure until we can get it repaired properly but please be careful in the meantime.

One of the yellow gates is still not closing correctly due to it being swung on and we are waiting for KOMPAN to repair it, hopefully later this month.

The trustees would like to remind residents that GHRC (who oversee the hall, playground and field) is a charity; considering the equipment was only installed last year, please encourage users/your children to be considerate whilst playing there. Money to pay for repairs like this is diverted from new projects which we’d like to bring to the hall and field for everyone to enjoy.

On Thursday 18th June, from approximately 8am, we have a company carrying out scarification of the playing field. Dog walkers may prefer to avoid the area whilst this process is in operation. Apologies for the short notice but availability has been an issue as well as the weather/ground conditions. GHRC.

A message from the Green Hammerton Village Hall Trustees:

We are saddened to say that our Village playground has once again been affected by ongoing acts of vandalism. As a charity run by volunteers for the benefit of our whole community, the cost of repairing damage takes valuable funds away from maintaining and improving the hall, field and playground and supporting the activities that take place there.

The village hall, field and playground belong to all of us, and we want it to remain a safe, welcoming place for local groups, events and future generations.

If you have witnessed any incidents or have information that may help prevent further damage, please contact the trustees directly or report it to the appropriate authorities.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support and care for our village hall and facilities. By working together as a community, we can help protect this valuable local asset.

Following recent feedback from hirers of the playing field, from now on, whenever there is sport or a community event taking place on the field, you will see these new signs. Please be mindful and considerate of others and keep all dogs on leads on these occasions.

Exciting news from the field!!

Starting on Monday 2nd Feb, work will commence to replace the old stile entrance to the playing field on Boroughbridge Road with a self close wooden gate and new purpose built steps. This should be a significant improvement to make access to the field from that entrance far easier.

However while the work is carried out, that entrance will be CLOSED so please do not attempt to enter the field from Boroughbridge Road until the work is complete.

We anticipate (weather dependent) it will only take 1 week but will notify again on Facebook and the plinth notice board once it’s officially open. Thank you for your patience during this time.
