Parrots aren’t pets - they’re wild animals with complex needs that cannot be replicated in captivity.

In the wild, they fly miles every day, form deep social bonds, and live rich, stimulated lives.

In captivity, many suffer from stress, boredom, and psychological distress, sometimes to the point of plucking out their own feathers.

You can help break the cycle by:
❌ Not engaging with harmful wildlife content online
⚠️ Reporting any cruel wildlife content
🚫 Avoiding captive venues
🦜 Not buying a parrot (or any other wild species) as a pet

Let's keep parrots wild and flying free.

Reteti was born out of our community’s determination to protect these beautiful animals.

It’s because of compassionate people like you that we can support sanctuaries like Reteti Elephant Sanctuary who make it possible for desperate elephant calves to be rescued, rehabilitated, and rewilded.

Visit the link below to find out how you can donate to support elephant calves during the dry season.

Wishing everyone a relaxing Bank Holiday ☀️

We hope you get a chance to rest, recharge, and enjoy some time outdoors.

And just a reminder, in hot weather look out for your pets by:
✅ Avoiding walks in the middle of the day when it's hottest
✅ Making sure they have access to shade and fresh water at all times
✅ Protecting them by using pet-safe sunscreen on exposed parts of their skin
✅ Keeping an eye on cats to make sure they don't get locked in a greenhouse or shed
✅ Never leaving your pet in a parked car as temperatures can soar

Did you know? Turtles have been on the planet for over 200 million years! But many species are now threatened by plastic pollution, climate change, habitat loss and accidental capture in fishing gear.

Small everyday actions such as avoiding single-use plastic, participating in coastal clean-ups and supporting ocean protection, can help give turtles a safer future.

This is the long awaited moment when macaques Jono and Unyil taking their first steps back into the wild!

They are 2 of the 46 rescued monkeys released on the protected Indonesian island of Nasu Burang. The monkeys have already formed groups of "families" prior to their release, that will allow them to support each other, and experience the natural bonds they'd have created in the wild.

They were later seen settling into their new environment. Jono was spotted hanging out with other monkeys in his group, while Unyil was eating a piece of fruit he had found in the jungle.

They're cute, they're hungry, and they do hard work that sometimes results in them falling asleep while snacking.
