Kelfield Village Institute was built circa 1924 and given to the village by Zoe Beatrice Preston of Moreby Hall during World War II. It has since had a group of trustees and a management committee. It has hosted home guard exercises, 'tanner hops', produce shows, concerts, plays, parties, parish council meetings and has served as a polling station over the years. It proudly displays the roll of ho
nour of the Kelfield men who served their country during the Great War. Its original floor was replaced after over 85 years wear and tear in 2010 following a remarkable fundraising initiative. It now regularly offers villagers: aerobics, bingo, pilates, zumba, a book exchange with refreshments and also provides the Kelfield Family Group with a clean and safe weekly meeting place. The institute committee also organises regular seasonal community events and offers the facility as a venue for private bookings be they dance or music rehearsals, corporate events or family celebrations.
