🐙 Happy World Octopus Day! 🐙
8th October

Today we’re celebrating one of the most fascinating creatures in the sea – the octopus! 🌊

With 8 arms, 3 hearts and some seriously impressive problem-solving skills, octopuses are definitely one of nature’s superstars! 💙

And while we might not have eight arms at Shopmobility York… we do our best to lend a helping hand (or two!) whenever we can. 😊

Whether you’re visiting York for shopping, sightseeing, meeting friends or simply enjoying a day out, we’re here to help make getting around a little easier. 🛵♿️

🐙 Eight arms, three hearts… and plenty of reasons to love an octopus!

📅 ON THIS DAY – 5TH OCTOBER! 🎬📺

Did you know that on 5th October 1969, the very first episode of Monty Python’s Flying Circus was broadcast on the BBC? 🐍😂

And if that wasn't enough excitement for one day… 5th October 1962 was also the day the very first James Bond film, Dr. No, was released in the UK! 🎥🍿

So, 5th October has certainly given us some memorable moments! 😄

Here at Shopmobility York, we’re all about helping you make your own memorable moments — whether you're heading into York for shopping, sightseeing, meeting friends or enjoying one of the city's many events. 💙

💙👵👴 HAPPY GRANDPARENTS’ DAY! 👴👵💙

Today is all about celebrating those very special people who have shared their stories, their wisdom, their laughter… and probably a few treats along the way! 😊🍰

Grandparents are there for the big moments, the little moments and everything in between.

Whether it’s a trip into York for a coffee ☕, a bit of shopping 🛍️, a family day out or simply enjoying some time together, everyone should have the opportunity to get out and enjoy the city.

That’s where we come in! 🛴♿

At Shopmobility York, we help people stay independent and enjoy everything York has to offer.

So today, why not give your grandparents a call, pop in for a cuppa, or better still… take them out for a lovely day in York! 💙

Happy Grandparents’ Day from everyone at Shopmobility York! 🌸

🌟📖 HAPPY NATIONAL POETRY DAY! 📖🌟

To celebrate National Poetry Day,
We thought we’d share a little verse today… 💙

A Little Ride Around York 🛴

Around York’s streets, there’s so much to see,
A beautiful city for you and me.
From ancient walls to Minster towers,
Historic streets and hidden flowers.

But getting around can sometimes be tough,
When walking gets tiring or the distance is rough.
That’s where Shopmobility comes into play,
Helping people enjoy their day.

A scooter, a wheelchair, whatever you need,
Can help you explore at your own speed.
To shop, meet friends, or simply have fun,
And enjoy York’s sights beneath the sun. ☀️

So on National Poetry Day, here’s our rhyme,
Get out, explore, and enjoy your time! 💙

Shopmobility York – helping you get out and about. ♿🛴

📅 DID YOU KNOW? – ON THIS DAY! 🤔

On 29th September 1885, the first public electric tram service in Britain began operating in Blackpool! 🚋⚡

The tramway was powered by electricity and helped transform the way people travelled around the town. It’s still running today! 😮

From trams to mobility scooters, accessible transport has come a long way — and here at Shopmobility York, we’re proud to help people get out and about and enjoy everything our wonderful city has to offer. 💙

🛴♿ Making getting around York a little easier, one journey at a time!

♻️ Recycle your empty ink cartridges and help Shopmobility York! 💙

Did you know your empty ink cartridges could help raise much-needed funds for Shopmobility York?

Instead of throwing them away, please recycle them through our charity recycling scheme. It’s a simple way to help us continue providing our mobility services to people who need them. 🛴♿

📮 There are two easy ways to recycle:

➡️ Send them for FREE using our personalised recycling page:
https://www.recycle4charity.co.uk/Register/216859

➡️ Pop your empty cartridges into the Shopmobility York office and we’ll take care of the rest.

Every cartridge recycled makes a difference, so please ask friends, family and colleagues to get involved too! 💙

Empty cartridge = less waste + more support for Shopmobility York! ♻️

Thank you for helping us! 😊

📺 Shopmobility York on That's TV! 💙

A big thank you to our trustee Archie Collins, who spoke to That’s TV York on Thursday 24th September about an issue that can cause real distress for some of our customers.

Many of the people who use Shopmobility York are older or have mobility difficulties, so when they book a taxi, they need drivers to come to our location on Level 2 of Coppergate Car Park to collect them.

🚕 We’re asking taxi firms and drivers to please be mindful of where we are located and, where possible, come into the car park to collect customers rather than leaving them waiting outside.

Our staff will always do their best to help, but getting customers home safely and without unnecessary stress is so important. ❤️

Well done Archie for representing Shopmobility York and helping us get this message out there! 👏

The news report was broadcast on That’s York on Thursday 24th September and repeated Friday morning.
