York Scout Activity Centre Snowball Plantation is set in 17 acres of mature woodland, and offers a range of facilities, eight camping sites and two principal buildings.

York Scout Activity Centre is a popular and welcoming destination for Scouts, Guides, youth groups, and an increasing number of other visitors, offering a great space for everyone to enjoy and explore. The site has a perimeter fence, and is surrounded by farmland. The Management Committee aim to provide a safe environment in which children can enjoy opportunities for constructive play, recreation,

and education. The size of the site and the facilities it offers makes it suitable for a wide range of outdoor activities from full, week long camps through to evening meetings.

Yesterday was our Pitch In Day, and what a fantastic start we’ve made getting the site ready for September and the return of Scouting!

Thanks to everyone who came along, we now have a fresh, clean look around the lodge. The front of the lodge has been cleared of weeds, and all of the site’s wood stores have had a well-deserved spruce up.

A special thank you also goes to two wonderful families, passionate Scouting enthusiasts, who joined us to lend a hand. As regular users of Snowball, they wanted to give something back to the site, and their help was hugely appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who gave up their time and worked so hard. Your efforts have made a real difference, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back for another fantastic Scouting year and much more!

What a fantastic day we’ve had today completing our Tomahawk Training!

A huge shout out to our amazing instructors from 1st Helmsley Scout Group, who delivered a fantastic day of training. It was incredibly informative, hands-on, and great fun from start to finish.

A big thank you for sharing your knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm with us. We can’t wait to get Tomahawk activities up and running at YSAC, giving our young people the chance to have fun and make lasting memories!

Postponed

This Sunday's Pitch-in Day has been postponed till Sunday the 23rd of August.

If you are free on Sunday the 23rd of August we will be doing some site clean up ready for the return of Scouting after the summer. Any help is greatly appreciated we start from 9:00 with a bacon sandwich and a cuppa.

Can't make it for the start come anytime there is always lots to do. Drop us a message if you require my information or feel free to just turn up on the day.

What a fantastic week we’ve had so far here at YSAC!

We’ve loved having Menston Scouts & Explorers on site, and the weather has certainly been on their side!

Their adventure-packed week has included trips to Scarborough and the spooky York Dungeon, before joining us on the shooting range on Sunday - safe to say there were plenty of smiles and a lot of fun!

Yesterday was all about teamwork as they took over our arena for a series of exciting activities, including pioneering, orienteering, grass skis, and even some hilarious battles in the sumo suits!

And of course, no camp would be complete without a visit to our newly opened shop! It seems the marshmallows were a firm favourite, with plenty being snapped up. Even with the open fire ban in place!

It’s been brilliant seeing everyone making the most of everything YSAC has to offer. We hope you’re all having an amazing time, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the week has in store!

Exciting News!

The wait is over - our shop will officially be opening next Saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm!

Come along and have a browse through our range of Scout badges and merchandise, whether you’re looking to add to your collection or pick up something new.

We’ll also have plenty of drinks, sweets, and, of course, everyone’s favourite… marshmallows!

Pop in, say hello, and support the group while treating yourself to a few goodies. We can’t wait to welcome you through the doors and make our first opening a fantastic one!

We are able to take card too.

What a fantastic Saturday morning we had with the Otley Explorers on our shooting range!

It was brilliant to see so much enthusiasm from everyone taking part, along with plenty of friendly rivalry as they all aimed to hit the bullseye. There were some excellent shots, lots of encouragement, and plenty of smiles throughout the session.

A huge well done to all the Explorers for giving it their best, and thank you for making it such an enjoyable morning. We look forward to welcoming you back for more target practice soon!
