🎉🌭 Huge congratulations to Stuart Lambert on winning a York Mix HERO Award 2026!

Let's be honest, anyone who can lift a record-breaking number of sausages for charity deserves some kind of award... but a HERO Award is pretty special! 💪🏆

Congratulations Stuart, York's very own sausage-lifting superhero and thank you for everything you do. We couldn't think of a more deserving winner! 👏

🌟 National Volunteers' Week 🌟

Continuing our celebration of Volunteers' Week, we want to say a huge thank you to our incredible trustees.

As an entirely volunteer-led organisation, our trustees are the backbone of everything we do. Working behind the scenes, they provide guidance, support, governance, and countless hours of their time to help keep the organisation running smoothly.

So a huge thank you to Jools, Sarah, Jamie and Micheal for everything they do. 💙

This volunteers week we want to say a massive thank you to all our volunteers.

Whether you are one of our Wednesday cooks, a sunday egg frying expert, or a demon with the trusty outreach trolley, without you we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.

Thank you to each and every one of you.

Can anyone help our friends at York City Football Club Foundation?

Can anyone help our friends at York City Football Club Foundation?

York City FC Foundation are currently looking for volunteers to support us at the Future Sounds events at York Museum Gardens this summer.

We are helping with fundraising bucket collections and event support across the weekend, and we are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to join us!

📍 York Museum Gardens
📅 Saturday & Sunday

Saturday, 11 July 2026 (4pm): Super Furry Animals
The bands first live performance in a decade! Support acts: Baxter Dury, Los Campesinos!, Divorce, and Pys Melyn.

Sunday, 12 July 2026 (2:30pm): York Comedy Festival 2026.
Comedy line-up: Russell Howard, Ross Noble, Russell Kane, Joanne McNally, Suzi Ruffell, Jeff Innocent, Nabil Abdulrashid, Barry from Watford, and Jarred Christmas.

Volunteer roles may include:
✅ Bucket collections for YCFC Foundation
✅ Wayfinding / helping attendees
✅ General event support

Volunteers will need to arrive before gates open, but once the main crowds are in, you’ll be signed out and able to enjoy the event. Volunteers can sign up for both Saturday and Sunday or one day.

This is a brilliant opportunity to support YCFC Foundation, gain event experience, meet new people and be part of a major York summer event.

Hot weather can be especially difficult for people experiencing homelessness. ☀️💙

Here are a few simple ways you can help:
💧 Offer bottled water or a cold drink
🧴 Donate sunscreen, hats, or lightweight clothing
🏠 Support local charities providing help and essential items
📍 Signpost local support services where available

As temperatures rise, an offer of a cold drink can really make a difference.

It’s not just humans we bump into on our outreach… our four-legged friends like to make an appearance too 🐾

From wagging tails to curious noses, some of our favourite outreach moments come with paws included. If we can help out along the way, we’re more than happy to.

Where does your support go? 💙

Every Monday, our Outreach Team is out on the streets, providing support to those who need it most and it’s all made possible by donations.

Outreach is about more than just food. It’s about dignity, consistency, and showing people they are not forgotten. Week after week, our team meets individuals where they are offering support, building trust, and helping signpost to further services when needed.

Every pound you give directly supports this work. It turns into meals served, essentials distributed, and conversations that matter.

So when you sponsor us, you’re helping us show up every single Monday.

It’s Friday thank you time! 💙

This week, we’d like to say a huge thank you to Beningbrough Hall for their very generous donation of items. These will be perfect for our Wednesday evening cooks to transform into some delicious meals for the community.

We’re so grateful for your kindness and support, donations like these really do make a difference. 🍲✨
