SASH SASH (Safe And Sound Homes) is a youth homelessness charity working across North Yorkshire.

We work across York, North Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire. All the accommodation we offer is in the home of fully trained and vetted volunteers, our ‘hosts’.

A huge thank you and well done to our SASH runners at the recent (and very very hot) York 10k! Thank you for choosing SASH.

We've got our final running events coming up this October:

🏃 Yorkshire Coast 10K – 11th October
🏃 Yorkshire 10 Mile – 18th October (our SASH places are brand new!)

Both races have FREE SASH places, with a minimum fundraising target of £100.

Whether you fancy another 10K or want to push yourself a little further with a 10 mile race, we'd love to have you on Team SASH. 💚

A big thank you to Legions Gym Boxing Club for supporting SASH and our young people.

Legions have been offering complimentary boxing sessions to young people in our service, giving them the chance to try something new, get active and have a regular space to train.

We're really grateful to Al and the team for making these sessions available and for the support they've shown our young people.

Join SASH on Friday 16th October 2026 for their 30th Anniversary Sleepout at York Racecourse.

Safe and Sound Homes (SASH) is a registered charity preventing homelessness in young people aged 16 to 25 across York and surrounding areas.

For one night only, they're inviting supporters to swap the comfort of their bed for a sleeping bag and spend the night under the stars in support of young people facing homelessness.

The SASH Sleepout is about more than sleeping outdoors – the aim of the event is to bring together likeminded people who want raise awareness of youth homelessness.

We're hiring!

We're looking for a Placement Coordinator to join our Operations Team.

The role will involve supporting young people aged 16–25 facing homelessness, as well as managing and supporting SASH's network of hosts across York, East Riding and Hull.

🕐 22.5 hours per week

Another great month at SASH!

🎪 AcombFest took place, where we were proud to be the charity partner. We had a great weekend meeting everyone who stopped by.

🚣 Super SASH Bros took on the York Dragon Boat Race.

🎶 Alne Singers hosted a Sing for SASH fundraiser – thank you so much to everyone who got involved.

💚Middleton's Hotel presented us with a brilliant £700 cheque as part of their COTY initiatives. A huge thank you to the team for their continued support!

🎤 Thea, a long-time SASH supporter, was back at York Station for another Sing for SASH busking session. More on this soon...

Could you help SASH build new community connections?

We're looking for volunteers to help us grow our relationships with local schools and churches across York.

If you enjoy meeting new people, building relationships and introducing others to a worthwhile cause, one of these roles could be for you.

Both opportunities are flexible, with just a few hours a week, and you'll be fully supported by the SASH team.
