🚚💜 This year, York Pride had the absolute pleasure of working with (hooksremovals) Hooks Removals for our logistics support.

From start to finish, their team has been friendly, professional, supportive and genuinely inclusive. Nothing was too much trouble, and their expertise helped keep things running smoothly behind the scenes during one of our busiest periods of the year.

The whole York Pride team is incredibly grateful for their help and support. We think you’ll agree they’ve done a fantastic job — our team has genuinely never seen our storage so organised!

Thank you to everyone at Hooks Removals for going above and beyond. We can’t wait to work with you again in the future.

If you’re looking for removals, storage or logistics support, we’d highly recommend reaching out to their team. 💜🏳️‍🌈

York Pride welcomes the fact that York Central MP Rachael Maskell has raised concerns in Parliament about the EHRC’s proposed Equality Act Code of Practice and its impact on trans people and inclusive organisations.

Speaking in Parliament, Rachael said:

“I have listened very carefully to my constituents who identify as trans. One thing that is very clear is from the EHRC guidance is that it will cost organisations a significant amount to put on additional services and facilities if they are to become inclusive organisations. What discussions have taken place with the Treasury to ensure that organisations are supported to build an inclusive society?”

Rachael has also signed Early Day Motion 1251, Support for the Trans Community, which celebrates the contribution of trans and non-binary people, condemns anti-trans discrimination and calls on the Government to uphold equality, dignity and inclusion.

At a time when many LGBT+ people are feeling concerned about the future of equality protections, it is important that trans voices from York continue to be heard in Parliament.

The draft EHRC Code is currently being considered by Parliament. If you have concerns about how the proposals could affect trans and non-binary people, there is still time to contact your MP and ask them to raise those concerns before the parliamentary process concludes.

York Pride will continue to champion a York where LGBT+ people can live openly, safely and proudly.

Read the debate via Hansard and learn more about EDM 1251 through Parliament.
