We’ve really enjoyed seeing what Chris English is doing through his Quilt Huddersfield initiative.

His work is a great example of how quilting can bring people together, encourage sustainable making, and create a real sense of community. If you haven’t already read it, his Op-Ed is now on the Quilters’ Guild blog and is well worth a few minutes of your time. https://www.quiltersguild.org.uk/blog/quilt-huddersfield-is-back-building-community-through-sustainable-quilting

It also made us wonder how many other community-based quilting and textile projects are happening around the country. We know many of our members, supporters, and fellow quilters are involved in local groups, charity projects, workshops, school initiatives, and other brilliant grassroots work.

If that sounds like something you’re part of, we’d love to hear from you. Comment below, send us a message, or email [email protected], and we may be able to feature your project on our blog or social media.

And if you’re in or around Huddersfield, do have a look at Chris English’s website for details of his upcoming workshops. They’re open to all skill levels and are a lovely way to get involved in a local quilting community.

We’d really love to hear what’s happening in your area.
