A QUIET CORNER

Need a quiet and creative space to get work done?

We understand how much distraction there is all around us every day. These days, we all can get stuck on doing the small day-to-day tasks, where our attention is needed without making bigger progress.

We’ve welcomed small teams who want to strategise or have productive meetings off-site, architects and designers who have meetings in central London and need a quiet place afterwards, and teams who work remotely but need somewhere to get together and catch up in person.

Meet sculptural and fine photography artist Samantha Davies / Sculptress of Silk

Not only that Samantha is the most talented artist but also she’s the kindest and smartest human being.

I was drawn to Samantha’s unique textural silk artwork inspired by her surroundings and love for ocean. You can see it on the second image, where Samantha translates the movement and pattern of water using silk on canvas.

Swipe next and you’ll see more recent work, exploring the medium of fine photography which links nicely to her silk work. Still textural and layered!

Some people totally get both disciplines, others struggle with it. To me, it’s simple - whatever Samantha creates always links back to water, seascapes and wellbeing.

Her pieces add a touch of elegance and understated sophistication to any interior space that needs a subtle lift and texture.

WORKSHOP VISIT

A few weeks ago I visited Dovetailors workshop near Leeds. It’s always good to see how furniture that we have in our showroom is produced by the brands and suppliers we work with.

It was so good to spend the day with the Dovetailors team. Seeing the passion and attention to detail that goes into each piece first hand was so inspiring. Guys, these are the good people. People who care!

In the workshop I saw how the CNC technology and the team’s CAD-CAM skills allow them to push the boundaries of design, which you can see in their products.

Every detail is considered and nothing gets wasted. They even make wood briquettes from the waste and leftovers. Genius!

What a great and insightful day it was. I’ve learnt so much.

I’m planning a schedule for workshop trips after the summer break so get in touch if you’d like to come along with me.

We’re loving this The Design Archives - Textiles & Wallpapers Tiffany fabric - top right. It’s 100% cotton pile and it has a luxurious feel!

We paired it with the beautiful Fenwick & Tilbrook - Premium Heritage Paints premium paint colours and wood samples from KindRoot Home LTD for kitchens and furniture for a textural contrast. All against the new Richard Allan London x Roger Oates Design woollen Pebble rug.
