Calling all creatives! Could you help us bring the magic of Crazy for You to life? ✨

As you may have seen, we were delighted to announce that our February fundraising production will be Crazy For You - the Gershwin musical that matches classic Broadway numbers to screwball romantic comedy.

We are recruiting volunteers to join our creative team for this incredible show, to develop and support our cast and help build the physical show.

We already have our Director (Jim Paterson), Musical Director (Martin Lay) and Choreographer (Lorna Newby) in place, but are also looking for people interested in the following roles:

* Assistant Director
* Producer / Assistant Producer
* Set Designer / Set Building Team
* Lighting Designer
* Sound Designer
* Costume Designer

If you have some experience in these areas and are looking for an opportunity to get involved with a musical production at Joseph Rowntree Theatre, we’d love to hear from you!

🗣️ Calling all aspiring directors: We want you! To direct our 2027 Summer Show! ✨

We have a slot open in summer 2027 for a team who want to put on a small-scale musical or semi staged concert! 🎵

After the success of our first *ever* summer show, Guys and Dolls, we are keen to keep our summer slot as a book show. However, due to restricted rehearsal time, it would need to be something achievable within a 3-4 month period, as opposed to the almost 6 months usually given to the Spring show.

📣 Audition sign-ups extended to midnight! 📣

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Crazy For You taster session last night! We danced, sang and acted our way through lots of the show’s highlights, had a fabulous introduction to the vision of our prod team and got the chance to meet one another. We hope you’re as excited as we are to get started on bringing this wonderful world to life! ✨

Audition registrations are currently open for our February 2027 show, Crazy for You, and we want you to be part of it!

Whether you’re a seasoned thespian or stepping onto stage for the first time, all are welcome at the JRTC! At heart of all of our productions is our incredible community, who bring laughter and fun to each stage of our rehearsals - and for many, are the highlight of their show experience ❤ When asked what their favourite part of their rehearsal experience had been, our Guys and Dolls cast and crew members said the following:

AUDITION ALERT! Our director, Jim, will be directing CRAZY FOR YOU for the Joseph Rowntree Theatre Company next February and we're looking for actors!

If you don't know the show, it is the epitome of the classic Broadway "let's put on the show right here - because theatre makes EVERYTHING better!" plot. Its a wonderful mix of screwball energy, romance, comedy and classic, classic Gershwin tunes.

This is also a perfect show to try out for if you haven't done a musical before and want to dip your toe. The company's whole ethos is about encouraging a wide variety of people to be able to take part in community theatre, so there's always a good-sized ensemble which is designed to accommodate varying levels of confidence.
