Our speaker for Monday September 7th will be George Willmore – Collage artist
Junk, Punks, and Adventures in collage, with all the meaning and politics such labels represent!
George, originally from London, has spent the better part of a decade bouncing around the various creative spheres, from props, costumes, theatre and short film in a freelance capacity. After the lockdown and looking for a change, he moved to York in early 2023 and since settling in his new home has been building a new name for himself in the local art scenes through his Collage artworks, curation of shows, exhibitions, and workshops.
While his work varies in terms of style, sizes, and composition, what links them is the use of recycled materials which extends from the art itself to the handmade frames that house them, a preference for heavily contrasting imagery, vibrant colours, as well as a tendency to lean into influences from the DADA and early Punk movements.

Event starts at 7.30pm. Doors open at 7pm – please aim to be seated by 7.15pm.
