Friends of Rowntree Park

Friends of Rowntree Park The Friends of Rowntree Park are a charity that help maintain and improve the park. We also run events for the community. Membership is just £5.

The council manage the park 01904 551550/ 01904 625751. The park opening & closing times change through the year. 'The Friends of Rowntree Park' are volunteers who help maintain and improve Rowntree Park. The council 'manages' the park and is responsible for the park overall (including health and safety, toilets, locking up), though there is no longer a park keeper or C*C staff based on site. Coun

cil cuts over the years have meant that any new planting in the park or new features is down to volunteers. The Friends run a range of events in the park for the community. The Friends are consulted by the council on developments and changes within the park, and we share the views and concerns of our members with C*C. We would love more people to join us in helping look after the park we all love. www.rowntreepark.org.uk/volunteer

We also run our own activities, which currently include a range of children's groups such as Forest Schools, the Very Young Friends of Rowntree Park (for under 5s and their parents/carers), and lots of one-off events,. we also run some adult sessions like nature walks and bushcraft sessions. We have volunteers who garden, litter pick, help with wildlife, events and more! Help us in our work to keep Rowntree Park beautiful and thriving, by joining the Friends of Rowntree Park. As well as helping our work, you get 10% off in the cafe, monthly newsletters, and discount/priority booking to our events. www.rowntreepark.org.uk/membership

Please note that the tennis courts and cafe are run by external groups and questions regarding these should go to them directly.

Good food. Good people. Good ideas.
STEW is being hosted in Rowntree Park on Saturday 27th June - a relaxed community picnic with a powerful purpose.

Come along to eat, chat, meet new faces and hear about some of the amazing grassroots work happening across York.

Your ticket includes delicious food and helps create a grassroots funding pot that will go directly back into the local community.

During the afternoon, you’ll hear from three local groups and community organisers, each given just four minutes to pitch an idea or project that could make York a fairer, kinder and more sustainable city.
You then vote on which project gets most funding raised through ticket sales.

It’s a simple but brilliant way to bring people together, hear inspiring local ideas, make new connections.

Rowntree Park Amphitheatre
Saturday 27th June
