🌿 Our super volunteers have been out in force again! 🌿

Giving some of the precious loved ones laid to rest in our beautiful cemetery a little VIP treatment — with care, attention and the respect they deserve. 💚

There’s something truly special about caring for a final resting place. It’s a privilege to tend these peaceful spaces, helping to keep them beautiful for those who visit, remember and reflect.

Who else’s garden was celebrating the strange stuff that was falling from the sky this morning? 🌧️🌦️

It’s been a massive task keeping all of the flowers and plants alive in the cemetery over these last few weeks. But our amazing volunteers never take a break! When they’re not watering, they’re worrying about when someone can next get down there to water again. 💦🌸

And the work doesn’t stop there either. Our fantastic group have also been doing some much-needed cleaning whenever the heat would allow. 🌿🧹

I’m sure you’ll all join us in giving this incredible group a massive round of applause and a huge pat on the back. 👏❤️

We really would be lost without you. Thank you for everything you do! 🌷

🦔💧 Wildlife in crisis — we’re asking for your help!

As many of our followers will know, we have various wildlife water bowls scattered around the cemetery to help our wildlife stay hydrated and cool during these difficult conditions.

If you’re visiting the cemetery and spot one of our bowls, please spare a moment to top it up with fresh water. Every little bit helps our wildlife cope with the heat. 💙

If you don’t know where the bowls are but would like to help, feel free to PM us and we’ll point you in the right direction. 🚰💦

The volunteers put in an extra shift today to work on the area behind The Friends of Huntington Cemetery HQ. And, they were not stumped by the task at hand.

Part 1 is complete and part 2 will be happening very soon. Keep checking back to see what they have planned to transform this part of the cemetery. Here are some clues.

💚 Community is at the heart of everything we do. 💚

One of the most rewarding parts of being involved with Friends of Huntington Cemetery is seeing younger members of our community giving their time so generously and respectfully to care for the resting places of other people’s loved ones.

Ben first joined us to complete the volunteering section of his Duke of Edinburgh Award. The wonderful thing is that, even after completing all of his required hours, he has continued to come along and help. That commitment says so much about the kind of young person he is.

Even better, Ben has encouraged a friend to join him, increasing our team of volunteers and showing how one person’s enthusiasm can inspire others.

It’s genuinely heartening to see young people taking such pride in supporting their local community and treating every memorial with the care and respect it deserves.

You might also spot one of our volunteers using the Karcher, kindly donated by Barratts Builders a while back. It’s become a really useful piece of equipment that helps us keep memorials looking their best, and we’re so grateful for their continued support.

A huge thank you to Ben, his friend, and all of our volunteers. Your kindness, dedication and respect make a real difference, and we’re incredibly proud to have you as part of the Friends of Huntington Cemetery community. 💚

With cloths in our hands, clippers by our side, and plenty of care in our hearts, we gently cleaned the resting places of someone’s much-loved family. Every leaf cleared, every stone wiped clean, is a small act of remembrance. Because love doesn’t end—it lives on in the care we give.

All our followers see the amazing work that our group do, week in, week out. But today, one of our volunteers went back to basics. Back to the original reason we set the group up; to clean graves and give your loved ones the VIP treatment they deserve.

At the request of Jordan’s sister, we’ve taken him under our wing and adopted his grave for one of our regular cleans. And, we think he’s looking amazing.

If your circumstances have changed and you need some help with your loved one’s grave, just let us know and we can adopt them as well. Perhaps you still visit, but can’t get down to trim around them, or maybe you’ve moved away, and visit a couple of times a year. We don’t need a reason, we just need their name and plot number.

We are happy to help.

At the Cemetery Gate

Where old plants tangled, brown and worn,
And weary earth looked quite forlorn,
A volunteer with patient care
Brought beauty back to flourish there.

With steady hands and thoughtful eyes,
They shaped a garden from disguise;
White stones now wind through rich, dark ground,
Where vibrant life and color abound.

A welcoming sight for those who pass,
Replacing wilted stems and grass,
A quiet gift, both kind and true,
Made not for praise, but simply to do.

And at the cemetery’s entranceway,
Their work brings comfort every day—
A gentle reminder, standing bright,
That care can turn the past to light.

With the weather we’ve had today, it’s a good job our new front rockery plants are drought-resistant! 🌞

It was nearly 30°C in the cemetery this morning, which made watering and cleaning graves a little more challenging than usual.

We’re hoping to complete a few more graves on Saturday, so keep an eye on our page and check back early next week to see some of our VIP transformations.

This month we remember the parents whose child left too soon. Nobody wants to out live their own child so we see you and your story matters.

July is Bereaved Parents Month.

For many people, grief is expected to soften with time. But for bereaved parents, the love they have for their child does not fade, and neither does the longing for the life that should have been.

Whether your baby died during pregnancy, shortly after birth, in childhood, or many years ago, your child remains a part of your family. The years that pass do not lessen their importance or the place they hold in your heart.

At 4Louis, we want every bereaved parent to know this:

💙 Your child matters.
💙 Your memories matter.
💙 Your grief is valid.
💙 You are not forgotten.

There is no timeline for grief and no expectation to "move on". Love continues, and so does remembrance.
