Great to see this initiative encouraging people to get active.
York St John Goalball Club welcomes new members of all abilities to our training sessions.
We're on every Sunday between 12.30-2.30 from 26th November to 17th December, 2023.

Over 35 blind and partially sighted people attended our multi-sport taster event created for blind and partially sighted people in York.

Great effort from everyone on Saturday. Went into the last game unbeaten and still in with a shout of coming away with a gold medal, but happy with the bronze. All matches played in the spirit of sporting competition all round.

We're back on this Sunday, 12-3 at York St John University Sports Park on Haxby Road. Hoping to see a good turnout this week.

Happy New Year!
Goalball training resumes this Sunday, 8th January 2023, 12.00-3.00pm at York St John University, Haxby Road Sports Park.
Sessions will be taking place every Sunday up to the end of June with the exception of 19th February.
Everyone is welcome, but please email [email protected] in advance to confirm your attendance. This helps with session planning.

Anna Martin is undertaking some research for her player classification project and is looking for some participants to get involved. If you are interested, please read the following:

Do you have experience of playing goalball as a player or a coach? If the answer is yes, then we need your help!

Researchers at Loughborough University are currently undertaking a research project looking to understand the relationship between vision and goalball performance. As part of this project, they are looking for goalball players with vision across the visual spectrum, so those with a vision impairment as well as coaches/siblings/friends/players who are sighted are also welcome!

They are currently gauging interest and organising ‘pop-up’ data collection sessions across the country. Participation will consist of completing a collection of vision tests and three, on-court goalball tasks, lasting approximately 45 minutes. All results will remain anonymous and any personal information will only be accessible to members of the research team.
