📅 Your local calendar just got a major upgrade.

Here's our brand-new lineup of events for adults this summer and autumn.

June 19th, 7pm - Meet the Author, Dr Sudip Bhaduri, and learn about how he set upon his journey to create a compelling thriller set in a world of medical and political corruption. Tickets available for purchase from the library. £5 including refreshments.

July 26th, 10am - 5pm - Alborough & Boroughbridge Show: we are thrilled to be at the show this year to raise money for our library. Join us for a great day out at Newby Hall.

August 1st, 2-4pm - Meet the Authors. The Accidental Authors are back with a brand new story - Breaking the Fence. Join us for a return visit! Tickets available for purchase coming soon.

October 17th, 7-10pm - Line Dancing. Last year it was disco fever, this year we’ve got boot-scootin' fever. 🤠. Same energy, different footwear! Save the date and we'll let you have more details soon.

The 2026 Summer Reading Challenge for children is 'Read to the Beat' and will launch in one month's time on 4 July at Boroughbridge Library.

The theme inspires children to explore the connection between stories and songs, discovering how reading and music both ignite imagination and creativity. This year's challenge is brought to life with illustrations by award-winning author and illustrator, Harry Woodgate.

This year's official Read to the Beat book collection includes books about musicians, characters discovering music, sound science, cultural traditions, rhythm, storytelling through sound, breaking down barriers to music, creative expression and following your dreams.

There will be books for young readers - shorter stories, great for emerging readers - as well as books for older readers - longer chapter books, ideal for confident readers. Something for everyone!!
