Hey hamster lovers, Happy Hamsters UK is now officially closed as a hamster rescue.

The final three hamsters, Dipsy, Laalaa and Barney are being cared for by our manager, Shelaine through her new local rescue, Fable's Hamster Rescue which is based in the East Midlands.

Happy Hamsters UK is now under construction for our social media and website to be repurposed to become THE place for all things hamster care, information and advice.

Please feel free to still message us on Facebook, Instagram or email if you'd like any advice.

We aim to have all resources updated and ready for you by Christmas 2025.

Thank you all again for your support over the years. We've had the best time.

To all Happy Hamsters UK supporters, adopters, volunteers and donators, we have an announcement.

The past 5 years have been an incredible experience, and we have loved running this rescue with passion, dedication and unwavering values.

We'd like to let you all know that Happy Hamsters UK will be closing its doors once all remaining foster hamsters have been adopted.

We'd like to thank you all for supporting us over the years and allowing us to do what we love. As we move on to other ventures, we hope that this community can continue to drive pet shops to do better.

HHUK will remain a place to come to for advice, guidance and to be pointed in the right direction for rescues, vets and ethical suppliers.

Please do reach out if you'd like to adopt any of our four remaining foster hamsters, who are in London, Kettering and Chester-le-Street. Exceptional care standards still apply!

Hey Hamster Owners!

Please take a moment to consider your hamster's safety with other pets in the house.

REMINDER: ALL species of hamster are strictly solitary.

There is absolutely no benefit to introducing your hamster to another pet in your home. They are solitary, territorial, prey animals. This can mean that they will not only be afraid, they may also turn aggressive towards another animal if they feel threatened.

If you've heard of fight/flight/freeze responses, these aren't only applicable to humans. Animals will do the same thing, and when you think they're fine because they're sitting with the other animal acting 'normal' and compliant, it's because their survival instinct has kicked in. They may even divert to a 'faun' response, where they will act friendly and sweet towards the other animal until they can get to safety.

You may have the best trained pets in the world, but unfortunately natural instinct can override training at any time, so please take all necessary precautions!

Hello Hamster Lovers! Dipsy is a 9 month old female dwarf who is currently being fostered in Northamptonshire. She's a gorgeous Girlie who enjoys playing in her enclosure and taking all of her seeds to her burrow for safe keeping.

She is in need of a barless 100x50 enclosure with lots of boredom breakers to keep her busy.

She enjoys all dig box substrates and most chews including burdock root which seems to be her firm favourite.
