Copmanthorpe Recreation Centre

As part of our maintenance programme at the Recreation Centre, granular fertiliser is applied 3 times a year to the grass playing areas.

We use a contractor to do this work so we are in their hands as to when this happens, but we ask them to do this work outside of the school holidays.

We will consider the best way to inform the community when this work happens.

THANK YOU from the Recreation Centre Trustees (the people who oversee the Recreation Centre Charity for the benefit of the village), to all those who helped to make the Carnival such a success yesterday and other events such as the Annual Art Exhibition: the Carnival Committee who worked throughout the year to put the Carnival on, the volunteers who helped on the day on all the tasks that needed doing and to all of you who turned up, be it to run a stall or just the experience the event and contribute to a wonderful occasion. To anyone / group / event that I have not mentioned, sorry and thank you.

It costs over £70,000 a year to manage the Recreation Centre. Our income is from leasing the Sports Bar & Sports Hall to ‘The Rec – Copmanthorpe’, from the ‘Copmanthorpe Childcare Centre’, along with contributions from the ‘User Groups’ who are based at the Recreation Centre and grants that we are fortunate to receive.

Without the money raised at the Carnival we would have a significant shortfall. So again, a BIG THANK YOU TO ALL.

CARNIVAL DAY

We hope that you are all looking forward to Carnival Day on Saturday.

Can we please remind you that in order to comply with the Carnival Day licence, the following can't be brought onto the Recreation Centre Grounds:

• Alcohol (this must be bought from the on-site sellers)
• Glassware
• Dogs (except guide and hearing dogs)

Public Bar - Party Venue - Sports Hall - Family Friendly

This may not look much, but these modified paving slabs will make such a big difference to anyone in a wheelchair wanting to get into the Sports Hall. All done by a member of the Tuesday Group of volunteers, on a Friday. Thanks Ian.

COPMANTHORPE NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN REFERENDUM

The Neighbourhood Plan specifically provides that applications for sports and leisure development will be supported and also provides that s106 monies and infrastructure levy shall be held for the benefit of Copmanthorpe and not used outside the village.
