Did you know that Oaken Grove Community Centre is managed by a small local charity? Haxby & Wigginton Youth & Community Association was formed in 1998, and the community centre building was then acquired in 2004 as a base for the youth group and a base for socially isolated individuals.

The Youth provision has been a central part of the charity's activities since, continuing to work towards stemming the rise in anti-social behaviour in the villages.

Oaken Grove Community Centre is a bright and welcoming building which is all on one level and wheelchair accessible. We have a disabled toilet and a changing place facility.

We also have two baby change facilities and newly refurbished unisex toilets.

We are delighted to be hosting an exciting opportunity for parents, carers and children (7 to 16 years old) to take part in a free creative writing programme that aims to build positive family relationships.

The programmes will be run by York St John University at York Libraries across 2026/27 - they’re fun, engaging, and completely free (including refreshments)! There will also be a chance to be published and take part in cutting-edge research.
