On Saturday we were delighted to be one of the nominated charities at the first ever The Tour de AKY fundraising football tournament ⚽️

This one is close to our hearts. The Tour De Aky group was formed after a mutual friend of ours sadly died by su***de, so it was an honour to be part of the day. We know Aky would’ve been proud ❀️

Plenty of engagement at our gazebo where we dished out some goodies. A big thank you to the lads who played (Played 4, Won 2 & Lost 2), and to our legendary volunteer Sean for manning the gazebo!
And thank you Hunslet ARLFC for hosting πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

We'd like to take a moment to say a big thank you to the legend that is Adam for all the time and energy he has spent on our allotment project over the last few years. It was really just a pipe dream until Adam came along and helped us turn it into a reality!

We now have a shed, seating area, raised bed and a little orchard and herb garden! We've now even acquired the neighbouring plot thanks to Haxby Town Council

Adam will remain part of the group but is currently focusing on his new business, Grow Kind York.
Go and give Adam some support there if you can.

We are currently looking for someone with some horticultural knowledge to step into leading the allotment, there's plenty of us available to help and how/when sessions are run is all up for discussion, so if you think you can help then get in touch!

What do local people think about Menfulness coming to Malton?

We know that for many men, conversations don’t always happen in formal settings.

Sometimes it’s over a pint. Sometimes it’s with a familiar face behind the bar. Sometimes it starts with someone simply asking, β€œHow are things?”

So we caught up with Jo from the Royal Oak to talk about men’s mental health in the area, the challenges local men may be facing, and how community spaces can play a role in supporting wellbeing.

Because improving men’s mental health starts with real conversations in real places.

Proud to see Menfulness branding featured on BBC Sport for the York Knights RLFC vs Castleford Tigers game πŸ’™πŸ‘€

Strength isn’t staying silent. Strength is speaking up.
Because some things are more important than sport.

Too many men struggle alone. Check in with your mates, start the conversation, and remember you do not have to carry things on your own.

We were delighted to be matchday partners for yesterday’s York Knights RLFC fixtures 🀝🏼
It was great to use the fixture on mental health awareness week to stand alongside RL Cares in shining a light on why it’s so important πŸ™πŸΌ
A huge thank you to two of our volunteers - Sean and Steve - for helping out with our gazebo in the fan park today! And thank you to everyone who came to chat and grabbed a rugby stress ball πŸ‰
Keep you eyes peeled for more news on our partnership with the Club soon πŸ‘€

Why is men’s mental health such a priority for the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, David Skaith?

Because too many men are still struggling silently β€” especially in rural communities where support can be harder to access.

That’s why we’re proud to be working with the David Skaith Mayor’s Office to bring the Menfulness approach to Malton this summer.

A community-led space focused on improving men’s mental and physical wellbeing, connection and support β€” right at the heart of the town.

This is just the beginning 🫢

We're thrilled to have been nominated for a Lord Mayor's Commendation during such an important week for Mental Health. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners, especially Bev Shelly who won in our category of 'Care' for her incredible work around bereavement and still-birth in York, and the brilliant Ryan Swain who was also nominated for his work advocating for those with ADHD and Autism.

It was a proud moment to have been acknowledged among so many people and organisations doing important work in York. It was an extra special honour to have some time with the Lord Mayor, Martin Rowley and the new Chief Exec at the Council, Richard Webb to dicuss .

The Lord Mayor spoke passionately about being full of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, and we really see that in our groups every day.

So we'd like to dedicate our nomination to the 20 volunteers and hundreds of men who make Menfulness what it is by showing up, leading with vulnerability and giving each other permission to do the same.

We're stronger together.
