Friends of Connaught Court

Friends of Connaught Court We hold their welfare and happiness paramount in all that we do and we also provide things that money simply cannot buy.

The Association raises funds to pay for additional treats for the residents of the home and consists of volunteer Freemasons from the Provinces of Yorkshire West Riding, Yorkshire North & East Ridings and Lincolnshire, together with Castlegate Ladies The Association was established in 1973 and exists to provide extra comfort and a range of social, leisure and entertainment activities for the resid

ents of Connaught Court Care Home. We raise funds in order to provide for goods and services which are without the remit of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (the RMBI). To that end we donate an annual sum for the provision of regular entertainments for the residents; we provide funds for one off items such as televisions, computers, sound systems, specialist furniture, garden furniture and a range of other items as required all of which are provided with a view of enhancing the wellbeing of the residents of Connaught Court. The Association also donates on a regular basis a specialist mini-bus for the use of the residents. Members of the Association also give of their time to assist in driving the mini-bus, counselling and befriending of the residents and also in providing a weekly shop to help to provide for the resident needs and requirements. All monies raised, with the exception of minimal administration costs, go directly to the residents of Connaught Court. The Association raises funds by several means; donation from Lodges, by holding an annual Summer Fair and selling tickets to attend, by raising monies from stalls at the annual Summer Fair, by individual donations, and by conducting other events which are organised by the Association from time to time. The Association is a registered charity entirely independent of the RMBI and consists of Freemasons from the Provinces of Yorkshire West Riding, Yorkshire North and East Ridings and Lincolnshire, together with representatives from Castlegate Ladies. There are a set number of Members of the Executive Committee all of whom are put forward by their respective Provinces together with certain Co-opted Members who perform specific tasks within the Committee. Additionally the Manager and Entertainments Manager of Connaught Court are also Executive Committee Members. You can support the Association by setting up an individual standing order payment, donating to the annual Summer Fair, either individually or as a Lodge, by asking your Lodge to make a donation to the Association from its Charitable Funds, by providing a stall for the Summer Fair, or by volunteering to assist with the running of the Summer Fair. Hi everyone, sadly due to operational challenges the Annual Summer Fayre (which is traditionally open to the public) will not taking place this year as hoped for on Saturday 06 June 2026. We have however arranged for a music afternoon to be enjoyed by the residents and their families and I'm sure we wish everyone has a great time.
Sadly, please note that this is restricted to residents and their families only.

Residents really enjoyed a close encounter with 'Monet', a visiting American miniature horse! They were surprised and delighted to have a close up view and a stroke of the horse, whilst learning about its life up in Northallerton with KL Pony Therapy.
Residents were asking its name, age and diet of the little animal, which nuzzled knees and allowed everyone to feel its soft nose and mane ...
The ladies bringing the horse explained about caring for him, life on the farm and his visits to homes across the county. The animal was calm and docile, and seemed to appreciate all the cuddles!
Maureen said ‘I want to keep him here, he’s so lovely’! Fran said, "Everyone wants to get up close to this little horse, he is so calm, it is such a surprise to have a farm animal in our lounge, everyone is interested!". Thank you so much KL Pony Therapy in Northallerton for making a difference :)

Connaught Court's lovely Nepalese staff in Fulford, York, recently entertained their residents with dances and craft activities as part of the Dashain celebrations. They also provided staff with delicious food over the lunch period. A lovely day for our residents (including Jack below) to embrace another culture and have a better understanding of other religions and festivals. Thank you again to all staff that were involved in entertaining the residents. 🥰👏
