East Somerset Scouts support Young People from the Southern most point of West Coker to the Northernly tip of Rode.

Yes, we camp and hike in the rain, but we also sing and dance around campfires, sleep under the stars, parade at Windsor, trek across Europe and represent our country around the world!

It starts with our Squirrels (4-6 yr olds) and evolves through to our Explorers (14-18 yr olds). Learning along the way through our Beavers (6-8 yr olds), Cubs (8 – 10 ½ yr olds) and then our Scouts (10 ½ - 14 yrs). Encouraging them to develop their life skills and enabling them to find their place to belong as a positive role model for the next generation…possibly as an astronaut or the worlds most famous naturalist….the opportunities are limitless.

To continue to allow us the privilege to do this, we need Volunteers from across our region to find their own place within our Scouting family. By doing so you will be embarking on your own adventure.

Whether or not you believe that you have the skills to support Admin, our District Shop or learn to lead and guide our Young People through their Scouting Journey, we will support you to find the place that suits you the best. Even if you can only offer an hour or so a month, we want to welcome you to our Team.

A full Adult training programme for your role is available and all Adult Volunteers are expected to complete an Enhanced DBS.

For more information, please email [email protected] and our District Lead will guide you towards the Local Group or District Team who will help you find the place that you belong.

What are you waiting for?...Believe in yourself and take that first step......See you soon 😊

Are you looking for a new and rewarding Challenge? We are looking for adults to join our Beaver Section leadership team.

Working as part of a team of adult volunteers, Beaver leaders assist in the planning and delivery of an exciting programme of outdoor activities, crafts, community projects, games, challenges and even for many, their first night away from home at a beaver sleepover!

This is a fun and rewarding role and is ideal for people that enjoy working with young people. Over time you will see members grow in confidence and ability as they learn from the programme you help run.

We know that life can be busy, so we're all about flexibility: You really can give as much of your time as you choose on your terms! Whether you can spare one hour a week, a month or a term, it’s far easier to provide exciting activities at our meetings if we have your support. You may think that you have nothing to offer but you'd be surprised! Give us just one hour (in a way that suits you), and you can help us provide scouting to even more young people.
