🌟 Early Days, Great Progress – Waking Night Support Workers wanted, Langport

We’re excited to be growing our Supported Living service in Langport – the transition has been going really well, and we’re now looking for a caring, passionate Waking Night Support Workers to join the team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a new team, helping to create a safe, supportive, and positive home environment where individuals can thrive, build independence, and live fulfilling lives.

About the role:
As a Waking Night Support Worker in Langport, you’ll be supporting an individual in a Supported Living setting overnight, helping them with everyday life while promoting independence, choice, and wellbeing.

✅ Supporting daily living skills and routines
✅ Providing emotional support and companionship overnight
✅ Ensuring safety and wellbeing throughout the night
✅ Helping people achieve their goals and live as independently as possible

🌙 Waking night shifts available
Full-time & part-time opportunities

We’re looking for people who are:
Caring, compassionate, and reliable
Positive and enthusiastic
Great communicators with a person-centred approach
Passionate about making a difference

Experience is welcome, but not essential – we value the right attitude and provide full training.

This week’s Sign of the Week is CAKE! 🎂

Every week, able2achieve joins ’s Sign of the Week to build Makaton signing into our sessions. Our staff and learners have been practising the sign together, using Makaton signs and symbols alongside speech to support communication for the learners we support.
Total communication approaches like Makaton help build confidence, independence and inclusion, and they’re a core part of how we support our learners every day.

Alex put it best this week 💬 "Just because we have a learning disability or autism doesn't mean we can't do the same things as everybody else. We may just do it in our own way, or need a bit of help." It's a message that deserves to be heard far beyond just this page. At able2achieve, that's exactly what our learning disability and autism support is built around: everyone's way of getting there is just as valid as anyone else's. Different paths, same destination.

🚂 YEOVIL ON TRACK — Celebrating Railways

TONIGHT! We're excited to be taking part in Yeovil on Track, a free community event celebrating the railway history of Yeovil, Somerset, marking 60 years since the closure of the line at Ninesprings. Come along for a live model railway demo, and bring your own locomotive to run on our test track!

6.30pm to 8pm at Ninesprings Café, Yeovil Country Park. Hosted by Yeovil Town Council and Yeovil Country Park.

Live model railway demo: Simon Champion will be running Hendford Halt, a 00 gauge (4mm scale, 1:76 OO gauge) Inglenook shunting puzzle model railway layout, featuring rolling stock based on Yeovil, Weymouth and local Wessex Wagons prototypes. Have a go at solving the shunting puzzle yourself, or let younger visitors take the controls of "Thomas" to drive a train.

Bring your own locomotive! Our OO gauge test track welcomes visiting locomotives on the night. On site we'll also offer wheel and pickup cleaning, light oiling and lubrication, and general running checks and minor locomotive servicing.

The wider evening also features railway heritage exhibits, a guest speaker, and archive film and photos of the old Dorset and Somerset Railway, a great family friendly evening out for lifelong model railway enthusiasts, curious first timers, and all ages.

Tomo's affirmation this week hit different 💫 "Sometimes amazing people forget they're amazing." It's easy to lose sight of your own worth, especially on the harder days, but Tomo's words are a reminder we could all use more often. At able2achieve, our support is about more than just skills. It's about helping learners see their own value, build lasting confidence, and know that being amazing was never in question.

Makaton Sign of the Week: HAPPY 🙌
