This week we started our work towards the Butterfly Challenge badge.
We learned about the life cycle of a butterfly and we completed a nature quiz and learned some interesting facts!
We also learned about the impact of introducing new species into an environment and ways we can help stop the spread of harmful species.
Finally we had a look at some activites for next term. Everyone chose one activity and we'll try to incorporate those into next terms planning.

Last week we carried on with our work towards Camp Skill Builders.
The younger group complete Tent Detective and practiced putting up a tent. The older group completed Waterproof! and practiced wrapping up camp kit to keep it waterproof.
We then came back together and completed All Pitch In where we learned about camp jobs and sharing out tasks.
At the end of our meeting, we proudly presented one of our Brownies with several interest badges, theme awards and her Bronze and Silver Awards. Well done!

Last week we completed some Skills Builders towards Have Adventures theme award.

We split into two groups.

The younger Brownies completed Fighting Fire and learned about fire safety. The older group complete Night Under the Stars and practiced working as a team.
We then sang some songs around the campfire and we finished the meeting by playing a game.

We also had a bumper amount of badges to hand out. Well done to everyone!!

Before we broke up for half term, we had an evening where we became archaeologists!
We practiced digging by digging out all the chocolate chips from chocolate cookies.
We put broken pots back together by using masking tape.
We hunted for items in sand and tried to guess what they all were.
We also had to imagine what someone would think any of our rubbish in 1000 years from now and we looked at images of different fossils.
Mr Brown Owl came along to our meeting and helped us use a metal detector. We found coins, a lynx spray bottle and a lock.

Volunteers Week runs from 1st -7th June and is a chance for us to thank the amazing volunteers who help our unit.
This could be as difficult as organising the logisitics of a trip or a sleepover or as simple as being the extra adult so that a meeting can run or anywhere in between!

All volunteer help doesn't go unnoticed and we are truely grateful for it.

This week we carried on with some UMA's.

We learned and practiced ballet skills to show how we can sometimes express ourselves without words.

We also listened to a few different styles of music and thought about how they made us feel.
We discussed how music can change our mood.

Yesterday we held a catch up session at our local Guide Hut.
This was a 4 hour session where Brownies were able to attend to catch up on missed UMA's and complete any interest badges they would like to do.
It was a massive success!! After entering all results on Go!, we will be awarding the following badges shortly....
