A Message from Redleif House
Following recent media coverage regarding our application to transition Redleif House to a Care Home Without Nursing, we would like to provide some clarification and reassurance.
Redleif House is a supported living home to older people who require varying levels of care and support, with staff available 24 hours a day. The proposed change is not about closing a service, removing residents from their home, or asking anyone to leave. In fact, it is quite the opposite.
As our residents grow older and their needs increase, some reach a point where they are assessed as requiring residential care. Under the current model, this can mean they may need to move to another care setting, despite being settled, happy, and surrounded by familiar staff and friends.
Our application aims to reduce the need for those disruptive moves and allow residents to remain in the place they know as their care needs change. Continuity, stability, and maintaining relationships are at the heart of this proposal.
Throughout this process, we have consulted with residents, families, advocates, and professionals. The wellbeing, dignity, choice, and quality of life of our residents remain our priority, as they always have been.
We understand that people may have questions following the recent article. However, we would kindly ask that assumptions are not made about the intentions behind this application. Those who know Redleif House know that our focus has always been on providing a warm, homely environment where people are treated with kindness, respect, and compassion.
We remain committed to being open and transparent and are happy to answer any genuine questions about the proposed transition.
