Today, Redleif House formally invited Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Baroness Casey to visit our home and hear directly from a small independent care provider. We have also asked our local MP, Adam Dance, to support us and personally present our invitations.

Our purpose is to ensure that small independent homes are properly represented in the national conversation about adult social care.

Public discussion often focuses on large corporate care organisations, but smaller community-based homes operate very differently. Across the sector, providers face rising staffing, National Insurance, pension, food, energy, insurance, training, maintenance, equipment and regulatory costs. There are also significant pressures caused by lengthy social-care assessments, funding delays, commissioning arrangements and local-authority rates that do not always reflect the true cost of providing safe, personalised 24-hour care.

These wider challenges do not change the love, care or commitment provided at Redleif House. Our residents remain at the centre of everything we do, supported by a dedicated team in a safe, warm and welcoming home.

History tells us that the voices of smaller organisations and ordinary people are often the easiest to overlook. I know our invitations may not receive the attention I hope for, but that will not stop me from trying. I will continue to speak up and fight for our residents, older people, disabled people and everyone who needs social care, because their voices and their futures matter.

Decisions about the future of care must include smaller providers, their teams, residents and families, not only the largest organisations.

We would be proud to welcome national decision-makers to Redleif House, introduce them to our wonderful community and show them the value that small independent homes bring to adult social care.
