A whole year ago, our lovely Denise brought in her baby tortoise Pikachu. This week the children started asking how big he’s grown and what he looks like now… so Denise brought him back in for a reunion!

The children were absolutely fascinated to see how much he’s changed. Out in the garden he kept looking for the warmest, sunniest spot… all without sunscreen of course which the children were worried about! It's OK Denise explained - that's what tortoises do and their shells protect them.

There were lots of brilliant questions, curious conversations and excited little faces. What a wonderful way to bring learning to life.

We’re thrilled to share that Bistro 19 – home of the best Musical Bingo events in town – have kindly agreed to host a special fundraiser for us!
If you’ve never been before, Musical Bingo is an absolute blast: great music, big laughs, friendly competition, and a brilliant night out with friends.
Tickets are just £15 per person.
To book your spot, simply pop £5 cash per person deposit in a named envelope, drop into preschool and we’ll reserve your places. Easy! Or ring Bistro19 direct and pay a deposit over the phone 01252 879224.
Then on the night you pay the balance. There will be games and a super raffle too!
It’s going to be a fantastic evening, and every ticket helps support our early years setting. We’d love to see you there

Something special is coming to Yateley and we would love you to be part of it! 💛

We are hosting a Musical Bingo Fundraiser at Bistro 19 on Friday 5th June at 7:00pm to raise funds for Potley Hill Early Years Preschool.

It's set to be a wonderful evening of music, laughter, great food and good company - and every ticket sold helps support our children.

We’re sending out the biggest thank you to all our wonderful parents for your amazing support at the sponsored Toddle Waddle, and to for helping raise the funds that allowed us to buy our brand‑new acoustic sound clouds from .

And an extra‑special shout‑out to Theo and Simon from Site Team for so generously giving up their time to come and install them for us. Absolute stars!

Our playroom sounds better than ever — and it’s all thanks to this brilliant community !!

This week we waved goodbye to three of our beautiful butterflies, and there’s one more who’s nearly ready to spread their wings. Sadly, one little one didn’t make it, but we like to think he’s smiling down on us for taking such good care of him.

The children have been buzzing with caterpillar and butterfly conversations — so much so that a whole host of them made their very own butterfly wings and proudly stuck them to their backs. The garden has never looked so colourful! 🌈💛

What a magical week of learning, wonder and transformation. 🦋✨

Happy 100th birthday Sir David Attenborough - our hero! If the children at home asked to watch 'The Secret Garden' it was because they were enthralled and inspired by tales of Sir David's endeavours!

It’s been a wonderfully busy time here at preschool, packed full of curiosity and hands‑on learning.

Mr Hill popped in with his mini apiary, giving the children an amazing close‑up look at bees and how they work together in their hive. The children were fascinated watching them move around and learning why bees are so important for our planet.

We’ve also created our very own frog lifecycle display — from spawn to tadpole to frog — and the children have loved talking about the changes they can see.

Our wormery got a check‑up too, with lots of excitement as the children spotted the worms tunnelling through the layers.

And to top it all off, we hopped on the bus to Tesco to buy jelly for an upcoming activity — a big adventure for little legs and a great chance to practise real‑world skills.

Never a dull moment… just lots of learning, exploring and smiling!

Calling All Treasure Hunters!

We’re on the lookout for some lovely curios and loose‑parts treasures to enrich our play spaces — and we’d love your help!

If you’re popping into a charity shop, wandering around a car boot sale, or having a rummage in an older relative’s cupboards, please keep us in mind. We’re especially looking for:

Teasets (we have plenty of plates!)
Wool
Ribbon
Buttons
Interesting curios, clocks or unusual objects for imaginative play

These little finds make a big difference to the children’s creativity, storytelling and curiosity.
