Yate Ageing Better is an initiative set up by Yate Town Council to encourage 50+ to lead an active, healthy and happy lifestyle.

Working with local groups, we want to inspire and empower locals to have a voice within the community.

It's hard to believe it's already been a week since our Yate Ageing Better Festival!

We'd like to say another huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a fantastic community event.

Thank you to all of our amazing stallholders, performers, volunteers, partners, and everyone who came along to support the festival. It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the entertainment, chatting with local organisations, and celebrating everything our community has to offer.

We've loved hearing your positive feedback over the past week, and we're so pleased that so many of you had such an enjoyable day. We can't wait to do it all again next year! 🎉

Yate Ageing Better Festival 2026

We're so grateful to everyone who came together to make our event such a special celebration of ageing better!

To our stallholders, thank you for bringing your fantastic services.

To our performers, thank you for entertaining the crowd – you were amazing!

To Yate Shopping Centre and Active Centres, who without your support (…and tables), we wouldn’t be able to hold the event.

To the Pop Inn Café Volunteers for providing beverages / food within a busy café with friendly, welcoming smiles!

And to all our wonderful visitors – thank you for taking the time to attend and creating such a brilliant atmosphere throughout the day.

We can't wait to do it all again next year!

Learn the art of darning – and make your clothes last longer.

Join us on Tuesday 26 May, from 10.30am to midday at Yate Library for a free, hands-on workshop all about repairing and renewing your clothes.

Led by textile artist Peg Squires, you’ll learn easy, practical techniques to fix holes, strengthen worn areas, and make your favourite items last longer - no experience needed!

Part of Summer of Socks, this friendly session is perfect for ages 8 and up. Save money, reduce waste, and pick up skills you’ll use again and again.

If your organisation is in need of some financial assistance and provides a beneficial service or activity for the community of Yate you can submit a grant application form to Yate Town Council for consideration.

Application forms for the 2026/2027 grants round are now available.
