GREEN MATTERS

Hi, Green Matters is a new project (supported by the Parish Council) that wants to engage and action green initiatives in our lovely village and parish.

Our first action has been to survey the green spaces in the village to get a good and accurate baseline of what plants, insects, animals and trees etc we have at the moment. We will continue to do these surveys from time to time to see if anything is changing.

Would you like to be involved?
Please message/contact Martin Clarke on 07787 178 253

Projects for this year include exploring Community Allotments, developing a Village Seed Bank/Swap Shop, hold an Apple Pressing Day, look at getting a Community Pig!
PLEASE GET INVOLVED
The areas we surveyed included Survey Wilsons Wood, Shop Lane, Oakfield Peace Garden area, Castle Ashby Green Bank opposite Houses 17-22, St Andrews Churchyard, Corner of South Vale and the Millenium Triangle

Interested in improving our village green spaces?

All across the UK, including Northamptonshire, Parish Councils are developing plans and projects to improve the diversity of our natural environment (biodiversity) and minimise climate change.

In Yardley Hastings, village projects could include nature recovery on verges and footpaths, community composting, introducing public EV chargers and LED street lighting, installing bird boxes and creating fun community events, like Apple Pressing Day!

If you are interested in helping to research, plan or implement projects, please call or text Martin Clarke on 07787 178253.
