ST Deiniol & ST Marcella Church

Marchwiel is a pleasant country village, 2.4 miles south of Wrexham on the A525, Wrexham to Whitchurch road.

We are proud of our 16th century church - St Marcella and St Deiniol. (We can be fairly certain that there was a church on the site of the present church, from at least the 13th century, and in fact there is a link between St Deiniol, who died in 584 AD, and the first church in Marchwiel, The Church was rebuilt in 1778 and the tower was built in 1789, The church was enlarged in 1829. Marchwiel Community Council’s Burial Ground is situated to the rear off the main church path and linked by a gate. It is maintained and managed by the Community Council and has received praise for its upkeep.

Local businesses welcome visitors and residents to the village where you will find a friendly / pleasant public house, the Red Lion who welcome visitors to sample its fayre. The primary school Ysgol Deiniol is situated in the centre of the village in pleasant school grounds, located off The Ridgeway., There is a play Area and MUGA site with skate park are located on Station Road, they are much enjoyed by the younger generation of the village.
