Preparing for high school.
How does anyone cope with their babies moving up to high school? It's a huge step that Seirian is totally ready for but mam and dad, not so much 🥹
Seirian is going to her high school of choice, which isn't local, so a house move is imminent ish. We are ready for a 'fresh start' and looking forward to the new us in a more suitable home.
In readiness we are working on stamina, increasing days and time at school. We're also continuing on the slow turn down of Seirian's pain meds. This combo has got her wiped out, she's exhausted but coping.
Everyday we see the steps forward Seirian takes, sometimes they are leaps and sometimes they are tiny but she's doing it!
There's lots of meetings with the new high school to discuss how best to support her moving around a huge campus, the practicalities of that, her chronic fatigue and how we can all make the transition the best it can be.
The bottom line is we need to see how Seirian copes with high school days, but we're happy the school have things in place to help.
In the meantime we're proud of how Seirian continues to embrace school, despite there being gaps in her education, which we don't know until they pop up.
And the fun stuff:
- A lovely seaside holiday 🏖
- Two first places at the regional Urdd competition in art 🎨
- A Eurovision party night 🎶
- Level 2 cycling proficiency done 🚲
And sports day is coming up where Seirian has practiced more of the disciplines including her first try of high jump, which got her a huge round of applause from her class mates 👏🏻
She's determined to try sprint and relay on the day, and we couldn't be more proud of her positive attitude. She goes into these races knowing she won't win, knowing she will pay the price with pain later on and feeling but ignoring the pain during the race. That's determination and fortitude that a 10 year old shouldn't even be aware of, but Seirian is very aware and uses positivity to move forward 💪🏻
