🏕️ What a weekend! Our Cubs returned home last Sunday from the District Cub Camp at Coxwood — and what a time they had!
You'll notice we're a little short on photos this time... and that's because our brilliant leaders were absolutely flat out — feeding the masses in the kitchen AND supervising the shooting range! 🍽️🎯 No time for cameras when you're that busy!
But trust us — the memories made were worth every muddy, exhausted, happy moment. The Cubs were absolutely fantastic all weekend, and we couldn't be prouder of them. 🌟
They've headed home full of adventure stories... and bags absolutely stuffed with washing! 🧺😄 We hope everyone has managed to catch up on the laundry by now!
Huge thanks to our incredible leaders who gave up their weekend to make it happen. You're the best! 💛

⚜️ Volunteers Week has come to a close, but we just want to say one more thing…

THANK YOU! 💛

We may have run a little over this week (almost 2!) — but honestly, when you have volunteers this brilliant, it's hard to stop! 😄

Volunteering isn't just about giving time — it's about giving joy, laughter, and friendship. To every single person who gives their time to help our young people grow, learn, and lead — whether that's running a session, sorting the admin, organising fundraising, helping at events, or simply showing up and mucking in — you are amazing. ⚜️

You make 1st Moss Scout Group a place where young people truly thrive.

And it's not just us — across the country, thousands of Scouting volunteers are making the same difference in their communities every single week. To every one of them too — thank you. 🙌

We are so proud to be part of the Scouting family. 💛

🌟 Volunteers' Week | Meet Helen! 💚

Hi, I'm Helen — a trustee and parent helper here at 1st Moss. You'll spot me at all sorts of Scouting sessions, and I'm also mum to two Scouts! ⚜️

I first got involved when my first was a Beaver and I've never looked back. For me it's all about making sure our young people get to try new things and create memories that last.

Ask me what my favourite part is and I'll tell you without hesitation — feeding the masses at camp! 🍳😄 There's nothing better than seeing everyone fuelled up and ready for adventure.

I also look after the social media and page for the group — so if you're a creative type who fancies getting involved behind the scenes, we'd love to hear from you too! 📱✨

At 1st Moss everyone is welcome

🌟 This we're shining a spotlight on one of our most dedicated volunteers — meet Paul, aka Fox! 🦊
Paul's Scouting journey began back in 1981 as a Cub, progressing to Scouts where he earned the Chief Scout's Challenge. By 1991 he'd taken the natural next step and become a Leader, earning his 'Magic Beads' in 2001 — a milestone that recognises years of exceptional commitment. 🪄📿
After 30 incredible years, Paul sought a new challenge and embraced the Beaver world, setting up 1st Wrexham Beavers from scratch in 2012, before being headhunted in 2015 to lead our very own Moss Beavers! 🦫
Ask Paul why he does it and he'll tell you it's simple — "Happy faces on the children enjoying what Scouting gives is my reward." ❤️
And if that wasn't enough, Paul has been volunteering at the District Scout Shop since 2007, taking on the role of Shop Lead in 2018 and receiving a Merit Award for Good Service in 2019. 🏅
40+ years of dedication, passion, and service. We are so lucky to have you, Fox! 🙌

We love our volunteers so much we've continued the celebrations this week!

🌟 This we're celebrating the wonderful Kasia!

Kasia came to 1st Moss as a parent — her daughter in Cubs and son in Scouts — but it wasn't long before she was rolling her sleeves up and getting stuck in! 💛

Whether it's a regular Scout evening or big event, Kasia is there making it happen behind the scenes. That kind of reliable, hands-on support is absolutely invaluable to our leaders and young people alike.

Having a parent who gets involved makes such a difference — and Kasia does it with enthusiasm every time. 🐯⚜️
