"Amazing local organisations like Turning Tides have done fantastic work in bringing the numbers of rough sleepers down here in Worthing and this new investment in accommodation and support will be a further step in helping people rebuild their lives for good."

Thank you to Dr Beccy Cooper MP for speaking about our work in the political opinion piece for Sussex World on reducing rough sleeping with new government funding. We look forward to working with our local authorities to reduce rough sleeping and help provide supported pathways out of homelessness.

Wow! This one drawing was the start of an incredible fundraising journey for Pet Portraits By Hercule, raising over a whopping £520K for two local charities over 6 years, Turning Tides and StreetVet! Read his incredible story, check out his beautiful new book and don't miss his feel-good podcast to brighten up your day!

Hercule, a.k.a Phil, we can't thank you enough for all you have done to support your local community.

Exactly six years ago today in the summer of 2020 I drew this picture of my dog whilst doodling at home with my then 6 year old son.

I posted it on Facebook, just out to my mates, hoping that it might make a couple of them laugh.

When I shared the picture, I had no idea of the journey it would take me on and, being honest, I probably wouldn’t have shared it if I’d have known!

But I did post it. Then people started requesting portraits….lots of people.

Fast forward five years and these silly drawings of mine are now at the heart of an online community of over 600,000 wonderful people who, in turn, have raised over half a million quid for some amazing charities.

Because, for those who don’t know, my pet portraits are all free. All ask in return is that people consider making a small donation to the charities I support if they are able to.

And people have made donations, thousands of people. In fact, lots of people have just donated because they like what I do, because my pictures make them smile, and because they want to support that.

So after six years, around 2,500 pet portraits drawn, and a whole load of YOUR support, I’m delighted to say that the donations for my two main charities, Turning Tides and StreetVet, currently stand at £520,000 and counting!!

Even in the early days when the portraits started getting a bit of attention, I could never have dreamed about where we’d be six years on, and that’s only been possible because of you guys.

I don’t think I’ll EVER be able to find the words to thank you all properly, or articulate what it means to me to receive your overwhelming support, but I hope you know that it is so appreciated and I am extremely proud of what WE have achieved together.

This project has thrown me into so many amazing experiences (sometimes kicking and screaming!), given me new friends, and completely changed the way I view lots of things.

I genuinely don’t know how long it will survive, but I’ve always said I’ll do all I can to keep it going for as long as people are donating, and for as long as I feel as if these pictures are doing some good.

With so much love and gratitude,

Hercule 💚

Our Harvest appeal aims to fill our shelves so we can feed hundreds of people throughout the year who haven’t got a place to call home. Last year Turning Tides supported 978 people experiencing homelessness in West Sussex alone, many of whom face significant barriers to stay nourished and hydrated.

We are calling on schools, churches, businesses and residents to help us ‘swell the shelves’ at our Donations Hub! If you would like you get involved, please email [email protected] or visit https://www.turning-tides.org.uk/harvest/

A huge thank you to the wonderful team at .experience for donating reusable water bottles for our clients.

Staying hydrated during a heatwave is challenging for anyone, but for people who are rough sleeping it can be especially difficult. These bottles will make a real difference, giving our clients a reusable way to access and carry water throughout the day.

Thank you for your generosity and support. 💙

We want to give a heartfelt thank you to this wonderful young girl for raising vital funds for people experiencing homelessness! We were so impressed to hear at just 6 years old, Cariad set up a stall outside her home to sell items she no longer needed. What a fantastic thing to do and such a kind way to help her community.

Cariad raised enough to provide 5 people with a hot breakfast at our community hub after a night rough sleeping. Our community hubs are a vital place where people can access food, practical support, advice and a safe, welcoming environment. Her donation will help us continue providing support to people experiencing homelessness and help them begin rebuilding their lives.

Thank you Cariad. Together as a community, we can end local homelessness.

Can we help 10-year-old Amelie smash her fundraising goal? 🚴‍♀️💙 After seeing someone experiencing homelessness, Amelie couldn't stop thinking about how lucky she is to have a safe place to call home. She decided she wanted to make a difference and has chosen to raise money for Turning Tides, to help people move away from homelessness and towards a safer, more secure future.

Her challenge? A 10-mile sponsored bike ride. Amelie's mum said if you know Amelie, you'll know this is a massive personal challenge. She's stepping right outside her comfort zone because she believes everyone deserves a home.

It's incredibly inspiring, that someone so young as seen someone in need and chosen not to look away.

Please consider donating and help Amelie reach her target. Every donation, big or small, will help support people experiencing homelessness and will mean the world to her.

Together, let's cheer her on and help her make a real difference. ❤️ https://www.gofundme.com/f/10-years-old-one-big-heart

My daughter is just 10 years old, but after recently witnessing someone who was homeles… Becky Halford needs your support for 10 years old, one big heart ❤️
