SSW team members James and Susannah visited Swandean Hospital here in Worthing this week to deliver our CPD certified visual impairment awareness training to the NHS staff there.

Our interactive sessions are aimed at teams and organisations who would like to better support team members and customers who are visually impaired and enhance their understanding of DEI; and individuals looking to learn more about visual impairment for their work or personal life.

The sessions are practical, educational, and fun and we can offer them at your premises or at our centre.

If you think you or your organisation could benefit from our training, please contact [email protected] or call 01903 235 782. There's also more info on our website: https://sswcharity.org.uk/training/

This week we're celebrating the incredible volunteers who help make Sight Support Worthing such a special charity.

From supporting events and activities, helping in our office, assisting with fundraising, driving members to appointments and so much more, our volunteers give their time, skills and kindness to help people living with sight loss across Worthing and the surrounding areas.

Their dedication helps us provide vital services, create opportunities for connection and support our members to live independently and confidently.

To every one of our volunteers – whether you've been with us for years or have recently joined the team – thank you! Your contribution makes a real difference, and we simply couldn't do what we do without you.

Please join us in showing our volunteers some appreciation this Volunteers' Week 👏

Every step they take will help support local people living with sight loss – in Worthing and beyond. We’d love your support too! Whether it’s £2 or £20, every donation makes a real difference. You can donate quickly and easily here:

Durrington Festival is taking place this Saturday, the 6th June, at Pond Lane Recreation Ground. The festivities start at 1pm with a carnival parade, following by lots of demonstrations and showcases, as well as stalls, activities, and more! SSW will be there to raise awareness of our services, and hopefully reach more people across Worthing.

If you're coming to the festival, please do come and say hello!

The SSW Uncharted group had an amazing time at Southwater Country Park last weekend, enjoying lots of water-based activities including rafts, paddleboarding and canoeing. With the fantastic weather we had, they made the most of being in and around the beautiful lake at Southwater, as evidenced in the photos and videos from the day...

If you'd like to take part in a SSW Uncharted activity, drop us a line or check out the website for our next event. These activities are open to blind and vision impaired people in and around Worthing. You'll need to become an SSW member, which is free.

We’re busy working behind the scenes on something exciting…

Our brand-new online charity shop is in the making! Starting on eBay, this shop will help us raise vital funds while giving great quality clothing a second life.

We're looking for good quality, branded clothing so, if you've got something you're no longer wearing, we'll happily take it off your hands.

We’re currently sorting, organising and getting everything ready with the help of our amazing volunteers.

If you've got items you'd like to donate, you can drop them into the Centre Monday-Friday, 9.30am-4.30pm, or call us on 01903 235 782 to discuss.

Thank you!
