Our Story

Established for over 80 years, Sussex Clubs for Young People are committed to developing a vibrant voluntary and community youth sector, which involves, empowers and meets the needs of young people in Sussex. We currently support over 130 youth clubs in Sussex. SCYP responds to the challenges of delivering meaningful youth work and we constantly strive to provide fresh, fun and rewarding activities for the young people of Sussex. There is no annual membership fee, so even small or start-up clubs can access our benefits which allows us to reach as many groups as possible. Why should you become a member of SYCP? We provide a lot of different programmes that will benefit your youth groups including: • Subsidised activity programme • Opportunities for tailor made activities at your club • Sports competitions through to national level and tournaments • Arts events • Activity Camp weekends • Training programmes for young leaders • First Aid training • Jump Start Toolkit – a Club Toolkit for fledgling clubs • Networking opportunities • Advice and support from SCYP staff • Club insurance scheme through Watson Laurie Ltd • Quality Assurance • Representation and lobbying • Liaison with Statutory and other like-minded voluntary organisations • Club visits by experienced youth workers • Membership to Ambition (formerly National Clubs for Young People) with all the benefits of being part of a major national youth organisation plus access to news and information from UK Youth Access to Funding and Support from: • Dorothy Parsons Trust Fund (for groups in the Adur district only) • Lions 'Adopt a Youth Club' programme
