Friends of Tarring Park

Friends of Tarring Park "The Friends of Tarring Park" aim to improve Tarring Park for the benefit of the local community.

The group will aim to carry out and promote both environmental improvement and practical conservation, to educate, encourage and support the area. BEST OF FRIENDS

We can all remember our best friend in our childhood and as children we probably took our local park for granted - somewhere to escape to, to play or just hang out with our mates. Covid affected all of our lives and really made us rea

lise the importance of our local green spaces - and just what a gem Tarring Park really is or can be! We relaunched friends of Tarring Park (Recreation Ground to locals) to make our park the best it can be for our community and the environment. The FoTP works alongside Worthing Borough Council Parks team and, as part of the Green Tides network, get inspiration and collaboration from other Friends groups such as Marine Gardens, Homefield and Victoria Park. We aim to make improvements for accessibility and inclusivity, for people of all ages to enjoy their open green space, and encourage healthy and fun social community events throughout the year. So you might think it’s worthwhile to become a Friend of Tarring Park too. You can find out more about our projects, and donate and volunteer, through our KindLink page https://www.kindlink.com/charity/Friends-of-Tarring-Park/

Huge thanks to everyone who came to help at the Annual Tarring Park Spruce Up this morning. We had lots of in addition to our wonderful regular Park Litter Pickers to help with brushing and scrubbing to get rid of the accumulated dirt and algae - and graffiti - since last spring.

Special thanks to one of our Adur & Worthing Councils Park Rangers who did a fantastic job and Councillor Rita Garner - Working for you in Tarring and also to residents and activity coordinators from Tarring Manor Care Home who also helped us with access to water for our buckets and much needed cups of tea and coffee!

We've done a fantastic job and this annual Spring Clean not only helps make our park cleaner and tidier in time for the nicer weather but also well loved and looked-after, which we know reduces anti-social behaviour.

Thank you everyone!

Great day doing good deeds in Tarring Park on Good Deeds Day.! Lots of lovely volunteers including some local councillors and the Tarring residents they represent. All the park benches, rubbish bins and equipment looks better without that layer of verdigris and general muck. Thanks everyone.! 👍

Looking forward to the now annual Tarring Park Clean Up Day, 8th March, 10am. We'll be there for a couple of hours at least, scouring the verdis gris off of the benches, playground equipment, signage and bins, so would welcome any volunteers who come along & help. A few of the lovely local councillors will be very likely helping us out again, and we are partnering with our friends at GoodDeedsDay so there will be a pack of free tee shirts available 😃👍
