We help children & families with therapeutic programmes supporting, trauma, loss, & mental health. We've worked in tribal villages in India.

For the love of a child works with children aged 0 - 18 from different faiths and backgrounds. Our aim is to support children and their families who have gone through trauma, loss and are struggling with their mental health and wellbeing. We do this by providing therapeutic programmes that target trauma in a safe way using dramatherapy, art, music, dance and movement. Our programmes have had government recognition and have been used abroad for those that have had to deal with war and conflict in Afghanistan, alongside the Syrian border and Iraq. In our own country in the UK we are working in schools to support the mental health crisis in children in Dundee. We are also working alongside the Afghan refugees and the Ukrainian families who recently arrived in Dundee and Derby. For the Love of a Child has recently returned from the earthquake zone in Turkey. We aim to run mobile therapy programmes into various camps to support the significant trauma that occurs after a catastrophic event. We are a registered charity in Scotland, UK.

What an absolutely beautiful special day with my beautiful friend Karin at Cairnie Fruit Farm. A special place in my heart as this was where Sam spent his last few hours on earth. We shared tears and hearts and laughed, too, over coffee and great food as we shared vision for how to help children and families around the world through media. Im so excited and feel very blessed remembering that God promised me that Sam's death would bear much fruit for good around the world. Watch this space!!!! .

Painting Day 🫟

We have been working hard over the last 2 months to get our new Big Heart Centre ready to open. However there are many walls and few hands 😓 So we need your help!

If you have some spare time this Saturday come join us, see the new space, pick up a brush and enjoy some well deserved pizza afterwords 🍕

Thank you to everyone who has donated and support us on this new venture so far, we’re so excited to have you on this journey with us and see The Big Heart Centre Come to life to support more children and families here in Dundee ❤️

We’re so excited to officially announce FLOC has moved into our first office premises, which we are calling “The Big Heart Centre’

This has been such a long time coming and we’re so excited to see it take shape. There still plenty of work to do, we thank you for all the donations and encouraging words we’ve received and we’re excited to take you on this journey with us.

We look forward to the opportunities this building will provide in support children and families in Dundee

1/2 Big Heart Summer Celebration! Throwing it back to earlier this month 🎉🥳🎈🎊

What else did we get up to on the Big Heart Summer Art Programme you ask?

With the fantastic assistance of Aimee, Joy Jennings Chelsie Bruce and with wonderful children from Rowntree Primary school and Front Lounge.
We were provided some lunches by the wonderful Dundee Bairns

For the first four days put on some fantastic art activities for us!

We learned how to collage 🖌️

We painted banners for the Big Heart Summer Art Programme! 🖼️

We did some printmaking to make self portraits 👩‍🎨

We learned how to build characters with clay with Joy Jennings 🧚‍♂️

We made storyboards to tell our own stories 🎬

We visited Tentsmuir forest and did some painting 🎨

We found patterns in nature and used ink to print them in our sketchbooks 📚

The second half of the week was run by Emily May and featured:

Making our own snow globe ❄️

Using origami to make umbrella pictures ☂️

and using the weather to talk about our feelings and resilience ☀️

Making ourselves into superheroes 🦸 creating big pictures by drawing round ourselves on paper

and used recycled materials to create puppets of our superhero sidekick 🐕

We made up a performance based on our superheroes and sidekicks and put on a performance using our puppets! 🎪

We also used ‘Kindness cups’, which are cups the children drew that were then filled with kind words from the other children and the adults. we spent lots of time playing games and playing outside throughout 🥰

We had the most fantastic time visiting Tayport during the Big Heart Summer Art Programme! We were very lucky to have a great team of staff: who led the first half of the programme and planned this trip, Chelsie and Aimee from Front Lounge, and Joy and Emily from FLOC!
We learned how to find patterns with ink and using nature, hunted for shells and stones, and went back to the The Larick Centre to do some painting ♥️🎨 Thank you to funders YouthLink Scotland

What an amazing day!
We spent the day celebrating the end of our Big Heart Summer Art Programme with the lovely people from Front Lounge! We had a fantastic time enjoying art activities, face painting, a bouncy castle and a petting zoo! A big thank you to everyone who worked on this project including the vine for hosting our fun day, and to our funders YouthLink Scotland !
