Second LUFC legend joins LUSC Worksop Branch

Former Leeds United striker and club legend Mick Jones became a member of the LUSC Worksop & District Branch on 1st July, after accepting the Committee's invitation for Honorary Life Membership.

This follows just weeks after another former Whites star, Glynn Snodin, was appointed as the branch's Honorary President last month.

Mick was born in Shireoaks, Worksop. He spent his early footballing days at Dinnington Miners' Welfare before moving to Sheffield United, and was later signed for Leeds United by Don Revie in 1967. He has remained a local resident for most of his life.

The Committee wanted to honour Mick's outstanding, long-term commitment to the football club, while also recognising him as a fabulous and iconic local footballing hero.

In a message sent to the Branch, Mick said he was delighted by the gesture and gratefully accepted the honour.

While Mick no longer makes regular public appearances, it is nevertheless a massive honour for our Branch to have such an all-time legend on board.

Former LUFC icon is Worksop Branch President

In an exciting development for the Worksop Branch of the Leeds United Supporters Club, Glynn Snodin was formally appointed as our first-ever Honorary President on 16 June 2026. This follows months of behind-the-scenes work by Chairman Christopher Smith.

Glynn kindly lends his incredible legacy to help promote both the Leeds United FC brand locally and this active branch of the Supporters' Club. Speaking about his appointment, Glynn said "I am looking forward to helping the greatest supporters in the footballing world."

Chairman Christopher Smith reflected "We are honoured to have 'Snods' on board. His presidency is a massive testament to our Branch and reflects the positive direction we are heading."

The Committee would like to thank all our current members for their continued support, which everyone on the Committee deeply appreciates.
