This week the Scouts and Explorers made a goulash on trangia stoves. They did very well and all their efforts were actually delicious. There was a winner (one of the Scout teams) that was really really tasty. Well done lads 👌.

Tonight Scouts and Explorers had a wide game at Mawbray. There are two car parks maybe half mile or so apart. The Scouts had to make their way from one to the other and deliver two secret packages without being caught by the Explorers. Then we played the same game in the other direction with the Explorers delivering the packages.
End result, Scouts 1 package sucessfully sneaked past, Explorers 2. I guess sometimes experience tells.

The dark nights are upon us....tonight Scouts and Explorers did a short treasure hunt in the village to get team photos with various different items in the background. They also had to find evidence of the Seaton vampire! Photos from the explorers who totally missed the bit about the team photo 🫣. Scouts were declared the winners, if I could share their proof of vampire video you'd be in stitches 🤣🤣. Good effort lads.

Yesterday evening Scouts paid a visit to Laal harbour at Maryport. With nights 'cutting in' it was getting dusky when we arrived. After a quick litter pick and collection of drift wood we got a fire going and cooked up some kiełبasa sausages (adding an international theme to the evening). We also popped in to see our friends at 2nd Maryport, enjoying a tour of their super new HQ.

We don't have much of a break over summer, why waste the longest days? Our first meeting after a fortnight break was a monopoly run in Cockermouth. One of these pics is the Explorers striking their most poetic pose 🤣.

Volunteer Leaders Wanted – Beavers, Cubs & Scouts

Could you spare a few hours to help young people build confidence, learn new skills and have adventures?

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts leadership team. Whether you can commit to every week or would prefer to join a rota alongside other leaders, we’d love to hear from you!

✨ No Scouting experience? No problem!
Full training is provided — all we’re looking for is enthusiasm, reliability and a willingness to get involved.

There are lots of ways you can help:
🔹 Help at weekly meetings
🔹 Support activities and camps
🔹 Get involved in adventurous activities
🔹 Develop new skills through specialist training
🔹 Work as part of a friendly and supportive team
🔹 Volunteer regularly or around your own availability

Most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference to young people, helping them grow in confidence, independence and life skills — while having plenty of fun along the way!

Tonight the Scouts and Explorers were out finding geocaches hidden in Soddy Gap. We found 7/8, some of the ones found were fiendishly hidden and one eluded us all. Good work by both teams navigating to and finding the ones we located.

Tonight some of the Explorers took a little trip out to Allonby for an ice cream. 26 miles on the cycle path round trip from our HQ. Well done lads 💪.

Thanks to all who contributed to our Garden Fete, great to see faces old and new. Helped by the weather It was a nice time to chillout and catch up with folk.
