Our Story
The Sea Cadets was established after The Crimea, mainly to give young orphaned children leadership, guidance and direction. In recognition of the value of the Sea Cadets during the Second World War the Royal Navy set up each Unit as a Charity and ultimately responsible for all fundraising as well as running costs.
Workington Sea Cadet Corps (TS Vanguard 379) was established in 1948 and has considerable experience of working with young people in the area. Our aim is to inspire young people, between the ages of 10 -18, through nautical adventure, sport and FUN! We are a youth development centre that enables young people to grow into strong, confident and active citizens of the community. We want to help young people to be their ‘best self’, build friendships that can last a lifetime and provide coping mechanisms for the stresses of everyday life.
Our core values are :-
Commitment
