CORE Men's Community Network

CORE Men's Community Network CORE is a Men's Wellbeing Project operating across Worcestershire.

01/12/2025

"Hey everyone,

Due to our funding situation with Public Health, the CORE project will be due to close end of December this year. We are pursuing further funding and will confirm on the WCT website if this situation changes at https://www.worcestercommunitytrust.org.uk/

--- This Facebook group listing will be deleted by the end of the week of the 15th December. ---

Creating and developing the CORE project across Worcestershire has been a great journey, and there are many men who have come to rely on the regular groups that have been created. They have made new friends and connections, explored new hobbies and interests, learnt about their health and wellbeing, and have also been able to access other essential services more easily from our community settings.

Fingers crossed for this project to recommence in 2026, and all the best from CORE!"

🌍World Mental Health Day – 10th October🌍

Today is a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health. This year’s theme is: “Mental health is a universal human right.”

Mental health affects all of us, but it's important for us to shine a light on men’s mental wellbeing especially. Sometimes the hardest step is simply speaking out!

Let’s also acknowledge how much strength it takes just to keep showing up.

The image below gives crisis numbers (for when you or someone else is in urgent need).
But there are also places you can reach out to right now, just for a chat, a walk, or a peer group.

If you’re based in Worcestershire (or near), here are some local regular services you might try:
Men United - https://men-united.co.uk/
Men Walking & Talking - https://www.menwalkingandtalking.co.uk/
Men's Sheds - https://menssheds.org.uk/
Liam Kernan Therapy for Men - https://www.therapyformen.uk/
Safe Haven - https://swwmind.org.uk/our-services/worcestershire-safe-haven/
Talking Therapies - https://www.talkingtherapies.hwhct.nhs.uk/

Sometimes support is just about having someone listen!

The world is going through a tough time right now and even if you're not directly affected by events, it can still feel like a lot to cope with. As an Orange Button wearer, I believe everyone deserves good mental health. It's okay to ask for help, no matter what you, or anyone else is going through. If this is you or someone you know, please do take a look at the attached support lines and reach out to the one which feels the best for you right now.

🚭✨ Stoptober is here! You don't have to do it alone!✨🚭

If you’ve ever thought about quitting smoking, this October is a great opportunity. Many people find that having support, tools, and a community behind them makes all the difference.

Here are some free resources and support tools you can use:

It’s 'Su***de Prevention Week' this week 7th - 13th September.

This is a time to raise awareness, share support, and remind people that they’re not alone. At CORE, we know men’s mental health can be tough to talk about — but talking can save lives.

If you’re struggling, or you’re worried about someone else, here are some places you can turn for help:

Samaritans – 116 123 (24/7, free)

CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) – 0800 58 58 58 (5pm–midnight every day)

Papyrus HOPELINE247 – 0800 068 4141 (24/7 for under-35s)

Andy’s Man Club – andysmanclub.co.uk (free men’s peer support groups nationwide, including online)

Men’s Sheds – menssheds.org.uk (community workshops & peer connection)

Mind – mind.org.uk for resources and support

Worcestershire Healthy Minds – 0300 302 1313 (local mental health support)

Shout – text SHOUT to 85258 (24/7 confidential crisis text support)

Even a small chat can make a big difference — you don’t have to go through things alone!

We'd just like to say a big 'Thank you!' to Worcester Wargames MTG and Warhammer: Worcester for their generous donations of miniatures to our Worcester based CORE group. The guys are really looking forward to getting these put together and start painting.

Both of these stores are always keen to welcome in new hobbyists, and are happy to share some tips, tricks and advice for those looking to improve their gaming or painting skills.

Hopefully we'll post some pictures of painted models and dioramas very soon!

Just a quick shout out to Worcester Based Alfie Pritchard, who is going to be taking on a 3 day Iron-Man Marathon to raise money for the Oddballs Foundation, which raises awareness of testicular cancer.

More info about their work at https://theoddballsfoundation.com/

I've been told that Alfie is looking for volunteers to join him on a 5K run for the final leg of the Marathon, or at the least, be there to cheer him on! This will start on Sunday 3rd August from a cafe/community hub called "Kyndfolk" in Worcester just outside of the City Centre.

You can help him to raise money at his fundraiser page - https://givestar.io/gs/4-triple-ironman

And there's more info about Alfie and the event at the Worcester News link below

A Worcester man is attempting a three-day Ironman challenge to raise funds for a men's health charity.
