Social workers are facing abuse not just on the job — but after hours online too.

A new UNISON report shows:
🔹 Verbal abuse is more common on solo visits
🔹 1 in 8 experience online harassment
🔹 Over a quarter feel unsafe on home visits

With solo visits increasing due to demand and staff shortages, many workers say they feel unsafe — and some are considering leaving the profession.

“Without changes to staffing levels and a shift in how the public views social work, risks to both staff wellbeing and the level of service they and local authorities can provide will continue to grow.”

Schools and council workers: don’t be the odd one out.

Your employers are offering 3.3%, while real pay terms have fallen by 28%. 🤯

9th of July marks the start of UNISON members’ chance to send a clear message in their pay ballot: No to being left behind.

But winning a better deal starts now.

Help improve the offer; sign the pledge today and be a part of the plan to win.

NJC Schools and Council Workers, the pay offer this year from the LA Employers is a disgrace. The only way to increase this offer is to strike for a full funded increase! We must vote YES to strike!

Organising to Win in UNISON: from transactional support to transformational power

UNISON’S Organising to Win strategy is built on a simple premise. When we deploy organising resource to bargaining campaigns that build member participation through best practice organising, we deliver significant growth in membership and activism and collective material wins for members.
